Because badges are a key game concept, and the main motivation for disables/hacks/raids is badges, I'd Like it if when you clicked the target button on the battle screen, when viewing the enemy ship stats, their was an indication if you have attacked/hacked/raided then within the 24 hour limit for badges. This is because the battle tab often displays the same player for a while, I regularly hack/raid/sometimes disable the same person twice within 24 hours, wasting energy, annoying them, and making me wait for the cooldown timer again.

agreed... as i have suggested many times.... an Attack, Raid, Hack, and Invade button for a particular target should have a badge icon shown on the button if that target is currently eligible to get you another badge of that color by performing that action... (of course, the attack button would have the badge icon if disabling the target will give you one... regardless of how much hull/shield is currently on the target.... everyone knows attacks don't give red badges)

This has been suggested a multitude of times, and I still agree with it.

I will agree with any "good" suggestion that deals with tracking who I have recently attacked/hacked/raided.
I don't really care so much which of the many suggestions we go with but would definitely like to see something put in for this.

isn't it 12 hours?

But yes, I would +1 to this

12 hours is generally considered bad etiquette. A 24 hour period between badges is generally a more acceptable period between badges.

I understand that... but if the game adds a 24 hours indication instead of 12, the game will have to keep track a seperate set of data, I don't think there is enough justification based on etiquette alone.

And the OP's words(wasting energy etc) makes it sounds like he thought badge time was 24.

But I would be happy either way, I'm not at the lvl where giving a 24 "cooldown" would take away too significant portion of my targets

it depends on whether dan is recording the time the badge events actually happen, or if he's already adding 12 hrs to the badging time before recording it in the actions table in the database

As far as I know, change the system to keep data on 24 hours of stuff(outside of archive sections that is) will require about 1.5x more overhead(CPU-wise) per badge check at least, and a 20-30% increased dataload(alternatively, it can be a 2x overhead but no increase in dataload)
That's the most efficent methods I can think of~
Showing badge on opening ship will likely increase badge check requests by 5-10 times at least. I dunno how many % of the server load is from badge checks, but I do think this(increased overhead) might be the biggest hurdle in the way of making this suggestion come true, the coding should be relatively simple.

true true... badge eligibility would be part of loading the ship info window.... and the entire ship info window (every tab in it) reloads everytime you click attack or some other action.... probably better if we had a separate button next to attack that would tell us eligibility for badges when we click it
