Before I get the expected response of "There's already a crystal type planet" I will mention that the type of planet that I am suggesting is not a planet type that could be made using an artifact. Rather it is a planet type that is naturally occurring and also extremely rare comparable to that of an exotic planet. This is a new type of planet that was discovered somewhat recently by astronomers. Perhaps there are a few of you who have read the articles and to those of you who have not here is a link to one.

I envision this planet type to encompass the entire binary star system itself and to be massive or larger in size every time it is discovered, or it could be small or tiny if the planet itself is only taken into consideration. The stats can be debated upon but the reality is that the star system could not be landed upon or colonized by conventional means but it could be used for extensive orbital research or material extraction due to its extremely high radio wave emissions and ultra dense material composition. So maybe research and mineral could be on the Xmega rich.

In any case this is my suggestion based on real events and real discoveries.

Oh I read about that too. It's a nce suggestion for a planet, and I agree - it should be exceedingly rare. For resources though, since they would be found near Neutron Stars and have a relatively high density, they should get either a cloak bonus, defense bonus, or both. And since they've lost the vast majority of their mass, they would have sparse minerals, only average artifacts and mega rich research.

...Or at least that's how I see them. It's your idea though. :P

I find that this is allot like the crystal planet we already have, you can say what type of gem if you want based on production I guess.

how about the planet could give you fairly high amounts of the resources but you have to claim them from the planet each hour they arrive

actually i think a diamond planet would be the remains of a dead star that was composed of mainly carbon

If you read the article, one of the issues (which I will say makes this an interesting planet type) is that the gravitational tugs from the binary pulsar tugs at this "planet" so to speak and the radio waves and just the inherent instability would make it difficult to do anything with it, but the cost "might be worth it" since the diamonds are so pure so to speak.

Maybe say the minerals and/or research are high (no arty production or Extr. sparse) and an added bonus where you can collect hourly the same amount manually as well..... (similar to the legion base....) Something like that would make up for a smaller sized planet which is not terraformable perhaps...but is also one that comes complete as it is.

It would be an interesting option as a rare planet, (I would probably make it just as rare as an exotic personally) but yes it would have to be average or smaller and probably not be able to be resized. *due to inherent gravitational issues.

But passive defense would be high due to the high gravity....making these worlds harder to take.
