Given that the high end dark badge items need over 300 per item, and that the only real way to get these are assassins - Which suggests a ridiculous amount of farming. (No other item requires as much energy expended, even including missions artifacts.)
So I'd like to suggest that dark badges are either:
i. Adjusted to have a small drop rate off NPC's based on rarity: ie. 2% Common 5% Uncommon, 15% Rare 20% Extremely Rare Which would also provide a boost of interest to killing shared NPC's. Or:
ii. Add 100% Dark Badge items to all energy-sink NPC's. Flamehawks and the like. If the assassin gets them, why not the others?
Also: While not "high level", I am an experienced player.
Non-Player Kills 9364 - Rank 404, a single composite ray.

yes! i dont believe this would be overpowered because the drop rate would be so low (5% for commons, etc.) and would definitely make getting those rays easier, especially in relation to all the other badge modules and mission stuff.
rank 514 npc kills 16855 composite rays 3
at this rate, i cant see myself ever getting to the other dark badge artifacts or buildings, simply because of their sheer price and the energy it takes to get the requirements.

I quit trying to get them a long time ago. This would definately spark my interest in it again.

You mean additional to the normal drops? Because if not then as someone who is just starting to see some of these shared npcs, I'd rather not have a 15-20% chance of not getting the better npc drop.

We really do need this at rank 417 Non-Player Kills 10583 2 composite rays
the only reason I hit Assassins over flamehawks is the dark badge but given the option of a different NPC on my tab I will pass them over because of the energy needed for 1 badge.

Not that hard to get. Would have to agree. So long as you make a concerted effort to focus on NPC for a while you'll get the badges in next to no time. Rank 640 Non-Player Kills 42385 4 Composite Rays - 1216 10 Quantum Accelerators on Planets - 4 in cargo - 1456 9 Magnetosphere Charger used on planets - 3 in cargo - 1440 leftovers - 9 Total - 4121 That said, i'm still gonna give this idea a +1, simply because i love getting those artifacts and would love to get more and more. So long as its a % drop based on what the OP has suggested and that it works the same way it does on RSL Siege Cannons. In that you have a % drop at a dark badge, but at the same you still get the artifact/research or whatever from the kill. So a Flamehawk could award both a dark badge and a crimson amp.
