he means how much scan power will translate to the exact amount of planets scanned. ie, 1 scan = 1 planet for the first planet, then i think 5 scan = 3 planets, etc...

Best you can do is tell us what your scan power will be and hope someone remembers about how many planets they scanned at that scan power.

i've asked this before... i think i remember the answer to be some sort of curve where the more planets you have scanned, the more scan it takes to find another planet... haha, i too would like to know specifics. but since dan changed it from showing the exact percent to find a new planet to the approximate amount, its just gotten harder to calculate... wish he'd change it back.

I started one a while ago: wiki

It is not perfect, only 2 definite points, my last protogrid ran out before I could get the last point.

Here's my theory:

Each planet you scan takes up about 6 scan on your database to remember. Multiply the number of planets you have by 6, subtract your scan power by the product of Planets x6. Then turn that answer ratio-wise or pct. to get your leftover scan power.

Any thoughts?

The more planets you have, the more scan it takes to get the next one. It doesn't build very fast, but for me it takes somewhere between 16 and 17 scan to get a planet. Last scan I did, I had 11010 scan and ended with 664 planets. I stopped when the message came up that I needed more scan to avoid wasting energy, that is about 50% success rate.

Quite, though since Teragon asked, Lycan is enjoying his new life.
