As the title suggests I have my doubts about the fact that it's uncommon. Up to level 78 I encountered none. I did fought most of the other uncommon's and quite a few rares in the mean time. What's your experience with this particular NPC ? I'm asking because I colonized a toxic very large precisely because of the said NPC thinking that would spawn sooner or later. To my disappointment it didn't : (

People I know had 4-5 spawns until level 100 but that was months ago.

Thanks in advance for the answers.

I get those just about as often as I get the rogue lab ships which are rare. There have been times where after killing 400 NPC's I would just get my first and there are times where I will get 4 or 5 of them within 100 kills. It is all chance and luck. Good luck finding them I hope you do so they are awesome artifacts. :D

I got a planet to 9x mega rich on the first day they were available with toxic purifiers. I think they got more rare after that.

Thank you both for shedding some light. I got, so far, 3-4 rogue lab pods. So either the spawn rate been nerfed or , story of my life, I'm paying up for future sins. In the first case a fix wouldn't hurt that much. Some people might base their strategies on "known" facts so maybe if they would know the NPC is rare or worst they wouldn't go for the first very large toxic regardless of how abundant they are. Just saying.

Even with a very large I would not colonize a world unless it is rich or better. The only time I would colonize a world that was lower than rich is if it was a massive world or better.

Well considering the fact that the harvesters are supposedly un-common, actually colonizing very large toxic, even under rich (mine is extremely abundant so close enough) makes perfect sense. It's "easy" to upgrade the abundance as opposed to how hard would be for a non-toxic. And I have yet to see a toxic world larger than very large. In conclusion my choice made sense a lot. Too bad I'm not good with NPC draws.

I can see that I did colonize worlds that where worse than that for a while but now that I am as high ranking as I am and have over 100 worlds in my Empire I am a little more picky about what I take. lol

Honestly now. I am close to Lvl 100 and I haven't met one single harvester. I just got two Sh'adin Penetrators in a row and in total I think I've got eleven or more Rogue Labs, which are rare. Not that I mind them but still.... This is just silly : (

It's just Random. I'm almost 2x your level and I've not seen 1/2 the amount of Rogue Labs that you have and I've never had a Sh'adin Penetrators. I got 2 Blade Harvesters back to back though.

I'm level 102 and I've seen 6 harvesters (my worthless toxic became my best planet)

I love those little things. I specifically colonized a vLarge toxic planet strictly to use those things on that had i think average or abundant production of minerals. It's now 8 times mega rich.

The key when looking for a planet to colonize for using those is not getting a high production planet since you'll be increasing it's production output anyways, but finding the biggest one you can. A vLarge or massive Toxic fully buffed will produce much more than one that is only large and fully buffed.

That's the thing. It shouldn't be. My impression now is that even if two un-common (or two rare) NPC are both "un-common" the one that gives you a "better" reward will spawn less. I am totally convinced for example that although "T.O. Troop Carrier" and "Rogue Lab Pod" are "rare" the spawn chance isn't exactly the same. I'm saying this because I got eleven or more "Rogue Lab Pod"s and two "T.O. Troop Carrier"s. Yeah sure, it's random. But that would be maybe 8 vs 5 or almost equal. Obviously the difference between the two rewards it's out of proportion as well. But that doesn't mean that "rare" shouldn't be equal to "rare".

Same goes for the Harvester. Zero harvesters and "many" "many" random un-commons that gives timed buffs or whatnot.

Perhaps "rare" counts as a range of values instead of a set spawn rate. That would explain why some show up more often than others.

This is how I always saw it.
