I recenty read in-forum that if you find a rare mineral, you should _not_ sell it, since just having it passively increases your chance to find better minerals.
Any truth to this?
Also, is mining like artifacts where it's best to save up your points, or does it not really matter? I recently found some Pawlicite and Dieterion - And being only level 22, that's a nice bit of cash should I sell.

The only thing that affects the minerals you get is rank. Cargo gives you more chances to get a certain mineral but it doesnt increase the chance per point. It does not matter how many points you have but you shoudl wait till you have enough to fill your cargo as you get the maximum # of chances for the better minerals. If you find a rare mineral at low rank it is plain luck. I got one Kurenite at rank 18. Hope that helps EDIT: There is one exception to the second to last sentence. AFAIK without legion help Aidonium cannot be received at under rank 160(or 150, I forgot).

So, could you clarify the relationship cargo has to minerals?
So, more cargo better? Or, closer to maximum cargo = better chance for better mineral?

Cargo does not increase the chance per point, but it means you get more tries at getting that mineral. So yes, more cargo is slightly better.

More cargo SPACE.
As in, I have 600 cargo spaces. I use 302 right now for artifacts. That leaves me 298 spaces for any future artifacts or mineral shipments. The more room you have, the bigger the shipment you can receive. But the shipment is always spread out amongst the minerals you can receive based on your rank. And it shifts. In the early ranks, you would get just the lesser minerals, and maybe a lucky higher one. Now, At rank 160, its more like a bell curve, I get predominently mid-range minerals, 3-4 hundred erixion and pawlacite, etc. Whereas only about 1-2 hundred of the lesser minerals. And I guess I should start receiving aidonium now.
But if you had 580 artifacts in a cargo hold with a capacity of 600, you'd only receive a shipment of that 20 space, he's saying that the less of a shipment you get, the less chance for getting the better minerals. Which is true, IN RELATION, to your rank. The higher your rank, the higher the percentage toward minerals appropriate for your rank. I would still get more pawlacite for example.

Think of it this way: every single mineral point you spend randomly determines a single mineral (or exotic matter). This randomization is determined by a chance based on your level each and every roll. Even if you count 2,000 mineral points, you are rolling 2,000 times. and statistically speaking the more times you roll the dice the more likely the average will look like your theoretical chances.
