BM50 Convoy Shuttle too freaking expensive

I just discovered that the BM50 Convoy Shuttle silver badge item is almost stupidly expensive to maintain: 2 million credits per day, sell price of 20 million. At rank 54, just one of those is 1.5 times the cost of the rest of my ship combined. And I have dominion IIs, Protean armories, and other good tech on my ship. I've also gotten some confirmation on prices for other Silver badge items.

Why is the BM50 so bloody expensive? Given comparable strength-to-deck ratio badge items, at MOST it should be around 500k upkeep. Anyone else think this?

Defense is gold. My standard defense mods are 214.3M (Builder + 3 Assembly bots) x4. 2M is nothing, 2 Kurenite covers it. Basically, you need to look at bonus mods the same way you look at researched tech mods. Can I afford that every day? If the answer is no, you either need more mining, or you need to not purchase those items.

How did you arrive at 500k? that makes no sense whatsoever
the closest ratio is Energy Nullifier, which is 5.054 Def/Deck ratio, just a tiny bit above BM50
it have a upkeep of 4.75m, providiing 374 def
now divide that by 3.74, we get 1267380, even if that is lowerd abit, to say 1.25m because of its slightly lower Def/Deck ratio, it's way more than 500k upkeep

Furthermore, it provides an addional bonus of base def, the current upkeep is more than justified.

Frankly, if you can't afford it, maybe you shouldn't have bought it~

Level 8 Base Upkeep: 14.8bil

My Ship Upkeep: 16.1bil

Most of us up here have this upkeep level. Would you like to trade upkeeps?

Defense is not very useful at rank 100 and below.

Agreed. That's why I always tell lowbies who ask for ship advice to ditch defense mods. Notice that the costs involved in defense mods that are actually worth having are above the normal lowbie income level. You shouldn't worry about installing defense mods other than NPC drops until you start into the mid-rank range, at which time 2M per day is nothing. I reiterate... Don't buy what you can't afford to keep.

I see where he is coming from only because the silver badge items do not list what there upkeep is, only what the minimum level to use them is.

however since there is alot of arti trading going on this is kind of a mute point, but it is there.

Just get your mining up more, and rank up more.

I agree with those who say you shouldn't have bought it. If you want to keep it, you might want to consider install/uninstall a few times until it breaks and then you won't have to pay upkeep. Repair it when you can afford the thing.

Moot, not mute. Sorry, that particular confusion is a pet hate of mine.

This is probably the best thing you can do right now. 20 clicks (or fewer), problem solved.
