 Why do people auto rank?

To autorank by killing NPCs, you need to have a 10xRank energy bar AND a 4.0 xp to energy ratio. The more energy you have, the lower your ratio can be and vice versa. There is a limit though to how high you can get your xp ratio because of damage cap and minimum shots to kill.


I think NPc can give more then 4.1 if u have a high atk, ATM I have 15k nrg at rank 1300 . so its a bit more then 10.1 and works well for an essay play when you want .


Yes, you can get over a 4.0 ratio, it depends on your attack and the mix of NPCs you find. My point though was that because of damcap and minshot you're not going to be able to just push your attack higher and higher until you have a 15.0 ratio or whatever. You still need to increase your energy bar to create or maintain an autorank.

Main downside is that it's tougher to badge as you get to higher levels - fewer people to fight, fewer weaklings you can decimate in a few shots. And if you massively level up fast, you can end up with the Shanebetten-patented Tin Foil Ship, where you're leveled-up but haven't spent months soaking up Ship-Bots and Prisoners like your opponents have.

All this stuff is manageable if you pace yourself - if I auto-level I do so in short bursts.

Well im gonna try this out cause im tired of ranking slowly lol gl is boring when the energy is gone

How many ranks should I shoot up before I slow down? That part seems important

So if someone were to gain, say 300 ranks since February 1st would that be considered massively levelling up fast or an ok rate. :lol:

As thats what i've managed to do. Gained 283 ranks, 1k decks, 3500 engineers, 2400 to's & 1700 helmsman in that time too.


I agree that as you get higher in rank there are fewer people to fight, but its not really tougher to badge, just costs more nrg and more debuffs :twisted:

These days i usually just NPC and then calculate when i have enough energy to XP to rank up via missions.

OK I got my mind set now to start building engineers when I can fit all my main weapon, defense, hull and energy mods on and maybe some good npc modules as well :mrgreen: lol this is gonna take awhile
