 Damage caps modifier

Right know our damage cap is based off of which of the following is higher either lvl or decks on your ship. I propose that it be modified to decks used on your ship that way those that want a small ship build can get medals for size and still keep there smaller damage cap that they want just a thought.

I would support it if it's something like "the largest amount of deck EVER used" as opposed to "decks currently used"

Because I don't think it would be fair for a player to enjoy the benefit of big deck whenever he do stuff like attacking/invade planets etc and then be able to switch back and hide behind a tiny build.

if you want the medal for ship size, you should have to sacrifice, just like people are doing to get other medals.

Well just a idea I had awhile back just recently rethought it and a way to say it the medals have only a little to do with it sense what someone said during it is what made me think of the way to do it. anyways didn't think it would be a great idea or even a supported one just thought I'd say it. As for invading not sure how much it would help on it.

Strongly suspect remembering your old musings was prompted by our Small Ship build guy defending exotica :P

Im always interested in anything that effects damage caps, as my ship uses the damage formula to its benefit as well. Honestly, i like it how it is at the moment (removing level from the equation would not effect my ship at all till level 4k, so im impartial here)

However, i had a little trouble understanding your proposal, probably due to lack of sleep.

Are you suggesting that level is removed from the equation, and only currently installed components count towards your damage cap?

If so, i think it would probably be open to abuse very easily. One could simply remove all components except defence and hull and become near-unkillable, while reinstalling guns for attacks and such. The repair costs get huge, true (sigh) but i dont think thats enough to prevent the abuse.

I REALLY like the idea of being able to get the decks medal (after all, i have enough ship bots alone in my hold to pass the achivement right now) However, i think unless we came up with another method to prove capability in this. Also, i think that its right that it can only be done by people who truely are that ship size.

Perhaps another method is to have a medal for a ship Below a certain amount of decks, but past a number of ranks?

Requirements - Ship size BELOW Star Destroyer, while ship rank is above 500.

Should ship size ever acheive Star Destroyer level decks, this medal is lost.

I don't think you should lose the medal if your ship ever exceeds star destroyer size. it's like level/rank achievements in other games "Reach Rank X" even after surpassing the requirement, you still keep the achievement.

Nope gogotha not from fighting anyone has this idea come up like I said thought of it awhile back but a recent post you put up gave me the idea of how. Still would be lvl and deck based just on decks side would be how much is installed.

No Achievements should ever be created that screw over high level players who have already passed the point of being able to perform that action.

No Achievements should ever be created that force players to choose a specific build for their ship from the get go. That means, no "have this by that rank". Period.

Either one would damage the feel and flow of the game, possibly irreprably.

This isn't an X-Box Game. We don't get multiple saves and we can't play through multiple times (unless Dan creates a second Server, which might be awesome, but also might suck because you'd have to buy FATHERS again, at the very least... unless you got all paid for mods moved over.)
