I've been kicking around this idea for a while now and think it might be kind of fun and good for the game. Ultimately Dan would control this one only.

I've been thinking about a Legion that would house the Retired ships from the game. When you retire from the game you leave your legion and petition Dan for admission into the legion. Your acceptance into the legion is dependant on your attitude towards the game and it's players. Rank may be a requirement as well but time and activity in the game is more important. I would think anyone active for a year or more would be the minimum requirement for this honor.

Now on to the idea of specifics.
Once you retire you are done you don't come out of it. Dan creates a new legion and base. (The old folks Home) for example. Base size UNKNOWN It would always be the strongest base around. It is also unscannable and cannot be attacked by a legion. Legion size has no cap. As I said admission into the legion is controlled by Dan No one gets in any other way.

Now here were some ideas for admission itself. Once Dan accepts you into the legion you are done playing the game. Simple as that You wanted to retire it is official. Now the upside is you get a few days to make a few decisions. You get to choose your race/profession/Ship based on what is available to you. Your loadout you favored most etc. Whatever applies to your race and profession is what you can do. Your ship becomes immediately invincible. It cannot be hacked, disabled, or raided. Dan would have to figure out a way to keep you off of BT's (Perhaps an incredible programmed in cloak to make you invisible to all players. All your planets are returned to the pool to be scanned by other players. Your ship,however, upkeep drops to zero. This truly is a remembrance of retired players. This gives your ship the ability to fly through space un hindered. your crew officially in retirement

Now I could see Dan doing a few interesting things and perhaps he can come up with some more. I would like to see some funny things happen with this. I could see at certain times of the year (memorial day for instance) the base becomes visible as do the retired players. These are visible only for fun. You can take a look see who all is there and leave messages on comms if you like. I could even see Dan doing some fun missions involved with NPC's that attack the legion and we as active players have to come to it's defense. No legion fighting here we all defend them.

I would like to see at certain times or with certain mission ( if Dan decides to ) you get to put in a couple comments of your choice as a retired player these comments come up as part of a mission. Perhaps Dan creates some missions where you choose a retired player as a "GUIDE" through it Your choice of retired player determines the reward at the end. Again all this is dependent on Dan. But it's just some ideas.

There is room here for ideas as well. I have also thought that Dan could choose from a players planets (if he wants to) specifically all the better ones of making Capture the flag planets out of. Giving credit to the creator of the planet etc.

Tell me what you think or add to it. Dan I would like your input on as well.

While the sentiment is nice...you are asking Dan to program an entire legion, effects, etc for people quitting -->(not paying) and taking away from us who are still playing.

I like the idea, but I don't want to it be implemented.

I'm not saying it needs a lot of additional programming. Only if Dan wants to and only to the degree he wants to. If it's easy to do and he wants to do it it is entirely up to him. It takes nothing away from any of us that "PLAY" the game. In some cases if Dan wants it to it adds to the game.

Dans ship and Legion appear and disappear at his discression. I see no reason for this legion to be any different from what he already does.
