There is another game out there i have not played in a very long while because it had nothing else that could really keep my attention but its called battlestation it has a system that has defenders and these defender will matched with people of like strength. it is pretty broad so you could work that in.

i played battlestations as well, but left after they introduced the farmville-like elements of building up your own island. the base vs base battles on the weekends were the most fun, but my alliance became filled with inactives and we were being pwned every time.

in that game, every weekend, EVERY base was 'sunk' on friday evening. beginning at 6 a.m. saturday morning, 1 base was 'repaired' every 5 minutes. any active bases could attack any other active bases, so if the first battle took more than 5 minutes, it became a real free-for-all.

anyway, the takeway for GL would be regular base vs base battles, where the bases are equivalent lvl, but are randomly matched up. attacking ships have to take on a defending ship (any non-disabled legion member) before being able to attack the base.

No offence ment, but did you even read the post? It isn't quite like this - Bit different to 'legion wars'.

None taken, and Yes, i read the post, and since this topic went off the rails several posts ago, i figured i'd add to the ideas, since everyone else was. but thanks for chiming in.

Sounds nice in theory, but as easy as it is to repair and get back in the fight would cause an issue unless the repairs were set at a limited number.

well, i didn't want to crib *everything* from the other game, but ...

in the other game, there were 3 attack lanes to the enemy base. the attacker(s) picked which lane to use, while the defender(s) picked which lane to defend, with lane changes possible at any time. if there were multiple attackers in a lane with only 1 defender, only 1 attacker was delayed, while the rest would go through to the base unchallenged.

the adaptation to GL might be the use of scan / cloak as a % chance for the defender to block, or for the attacker to go through to the base. a rank bracket would also avoid extreme attacker / defender mismatches. you could also have new artis which would guarantee a defender block, or guarantee a clear path for the attacker.

The hunter profesion sounds good. I'd love to be able to pick a race that has a increased chance of an elite spawning.

As you move up in ranks, and or join very active legions you will see loads of elites don't worry about that one. after a short while you have everything from each elite. and even that becomes boring there are a few tasty exceptions I used to love Titans.

That is the one I would say no to. Now if it was just to increase the chance of getting one I think it would be ok but if you got to pick what reward you got I would say no because that is way to powerful. I could get like 30 caches in week prob more.

how about the option to trade with npc's ? each one could have a specialized product for sale, and you would have to gift or bribe them to get it. some npc's may favor certain races and willingly trade with them , even offering special deals to like-raced players. opposing races would have a harder time trading, but may get special rewards for destroying racial enemies
...and of course there would be medals for these actions to be hammered out later.....and badges......

just a thought about making encounters a little more diverse

you could also use this in pvp..... an option to have direct trade with a player from the battle tab

Generally, we are looking for ideas that involve more legion coop tasks. Medals are currently solo, and although we have plans to eventually roll out "Legion Medals" at some point, we'll need more than just base battles and upgrades to be exciting.

For instance, one of the things we hear often is that battle is simply too repetitive. Some disparate ideas have come up relating to ways to allow a legion to make strategic decisions about an encounter instead of relying solely on damage done. We'd like to work on something like that. GL doesn't really have a concept of traditional RPG roles (healer, tank, dps, support, etc), however, but perhaps having distinct choices during encounters would make them much more interesting.

Of course, this would be in addition (rather than replacing) to the system already in place.

Obviously, we need to consider how this will fit in without a complete re-design of combat, and it can't be too complex :)

Legion Coop Task -

This would be a weekly mission -
2500 Energy Per Click 2500 Exps
Requires 50 Clicks
Reward Increases Base production by 100% for 72 hours (3 collections)

While Legion Coop Task is active a Daily Mission is available for all legion members
25 Energy per click 55 exps
Requires 10 clicks
Completion of daily removes 1 click from the Legion weekly (think rsl anti-cryptex)

obviously this mechanic can applied to different scenarios and rewards could be in the form mentioned above or could be temporary buffs (completion of legion weekly unlocks a button that gives a temp buff)

This would allow very active and full legions the ability to complete the weekly quickly and other lesser legions still can complete might just take an extra day or two or they can dump excess energy into base to complete it quicker

the "not to complicated" part is what is the hard work around, but..

had these ideas for base battles, and in terms of roles of battles

first wave : weapons get +3 boost
second wave : hull or shields get +3% boost
tactical team : ability to target weaponry - only when shields are down -, works kinda like a TIB, but affects weapons at 10% increments, lasts for 4 hours usable once every 4 hours.
support team : no repair timer OR ability recharge shields upon repair
infiltration team : works like tactical team, but targets defenses and requires blue badges to activate ability
boarding party : works like tactical team, but disables special mods ONLY - exclueds docking port for the obvious complications / CTL's would not loose blue prints - can also affect production mods.

Fine put it this way, trading with totally random people you have never before seen in your life, GL or otherwise. Happy?

why not ? imagine 2 ships passing each other in space. of course, first instinct is to go to red alert and have your crew report to battlestations. but then one might extend the proverbial olive branch in friendship, or just surrender to the superior force. . war isn't the only way to deal with an unknown entity. it's possible that the two ships have tech to trade, or knowledge of certain regions of space. diplomacy may occur, with trade being the end result. perhaps that sha-din penetrator's crew want to live, so they could offer you a sha-din algorithym to let them go in peace. maybe the captain of that rsl seige cannon needs to get his ship in position for testing and requires some info on the surrounding space. that mylarai extractor might need an escort to a planet that is occupied by an enemy of theirs, so they can extract an embassy to safety. missions spinning off from this could be anything , and could be one-shots

This is a war game with enemy ships, I don't want to trade, talk or do favours for them, I want to blow them sky high and stel their stuff.
