 Upkeeps for uninstalled itmes!!!!

this does not effect me in any way but hearing about others problems and remembering how it was when it did effect me, got me thinking.......


What if uninstalled items in your hull degraded every day at the time of upkeep installed of costing credits.

This way if you uninstall it, it will degrade as normal and if it is uninstalled for 24 hr it starts to degrade 1 lv every day until it is back installed or broken down.

And have an option setting that will turn off upkeep for uninstalled items... so those that want to still pay for uninstalled itmes can and those that do not can have it degrade.

Fully agree!
My idea was having an upkeep reduction or something which would make it a bit realistic...
As it is now doesnt seem to makes sense and gives a bit of a headache...
Feel like an idiot that I only now found out broken items dont cost upkeep...
Your idea uses the same system in place, but doesnt require for a player to intentionally "break" an item to store equipment they dont use everyday...

Again, Im an idiot...
I kept paying 60+ billion credits just to buy scanners and sell them soon after a run each time just so i wont have to pay for upkeep...

u do know that the repair cost in degrading is MORE than one day of upkeep, right?
So you would be worse off AFTER this is implemented.....

if u dont wanna pay the upkeep and don't plan to use it for quite a while, just break it by repeated install/uninstall
otherwise... upkeep is cheaper....

hell.. sell and rebuy on reserached modules (just paying half the CR and all the mineral) is often times cheaper than repairing it...

this suggestion would hurt more ppl than it helps, so big -1

what are you smoking it cost more to install an item than to repair it!!!!

and at any rate the idear is to make them not cost upkeep.... as i said it effects me none i pay for all my items and still have income

say i go away for 10 days. lets see, i want to take my relays offline while im away (relays are easiest to break and find out costs, so i'll use them here).
As a builder, one hyperchannel relay costs me 22.5M upkeep a day. with this idea if its uninstalled then cool, im saving 225M credits whilst away. BUT the repair cost on one hyperchannel is 855M. so i've just saved... nothing.. but lost.. 630M because it broke. and thats just on one module.

sell and rebuy probably works best

selling a perf condition module gets half of the installation CR back, the mineral cost is usually less than half of the installation CR cost, which means SELLING then re-buy is less than the installation CR put together, which is also the repair cost.
