the isssue with this idea is that most players like the fast pace of the battles themselves...maybe if you had a choice to enable or disable.

I kinda wish it was the same way aswell...
I made a post a while back in introducing some sort of a small combat sequence. Where you can see ship on ship combat each time you make a move. Maybe even missions. All with a toggle off option of course.
Making it more interactive sounds neat too, but I dont know how to make that sound good...

How about this crazy idea: Weapons, modules, hullsize and maybe even racial abilities have effect on what you can use as moves instead of regular attack.
I hate to use "pokemon" reference, but it would be similar to that. Or maybe a choice between taking out shields, going for weapons or straight to armor? Killing engines will keep it on your battle tab longer? Or maybe combining the first pokemon idea with the targeting one?

(thats the best on the topic I can come up with)

What I am proposing is during combat instead of showing the generic image of the ship you are doing battle with you instead would see from a bridge view into space looking at the ship. When you fired on the ship you would see a visual of whatever type of weapon fire out from your ship, like a colored beam for a laser or something of that nature. For the hit if it was too the shields it would show a blast on the shield, or if it was to the hull an explosion on the hull. Then for the return fire a blast coming from the target ship hitting in your visual area showing either the shield hit or a blast from your hull. This feature could be turned on or off as the player chooses, allowing for those who want to just quickly blast through to do so or those who want the visual to see it. Would make the game more visual for those who want that, a level of a custom feel due to seeing the different weapons fire. I would say this just be still pictures to make this feature easier to be programed, but still more visual. This is a very visual and really unnecessary feature but some would rather enjoy more than just a colored blast sign with a number in it. So go ahead rip it up. I updated this from a post I did cause I could not find this again, must need glasses.
