I think a custom color like the legion logo is needed. That way you can have any color you want.

EDIT: Have something like 10 "save slots" where you can save 10 of your colors. Maybe 8... 10 seems a bit much.

We have enough flags as is if you use them right, I'd rather Dan worked on something a bit more useful

There's currently 5 flag colors, in all honestly, a max of 10 is all anyone should need.

It should be a very simple fix for Dan to add 5 new random flag colors. It solves the issue of people wanting more options, plus adding a simple 5 extra colors without any major special changes with how they work would make it easy to program it.

I kind of made it so when I flag planets they mean all kinds of stuff.

green: my best planet
blue: a very good planet of mine
red: enemy planet that has my eye
purple: permanent effect
gold: enemy block-aid

and thats what the flags I put on planets mean.

I do organize my planets with flags and personally don't have a need for any more colors.

Red - Enemy owns it, I want it.
Green - Unoccupied, I want it or may want it in the future.
Purple - I want artifacts on it.
Blue - Recently attacked.
Unflagged - Purge.

I think the biggest problem that would "require" more flag colors is people flagging pretty much ALL their planets. That really wasn't the intent, I don't think. You should only be flagging "planets of interest" not everything. For one, why would anyone flag planets to purge? Once you flag all the enemy and unoccupied planets that have some significance (stolen, worth stealing, worth colonizing, etc.) you're left with your own planets and stuff to purge. I personally gave up on tying some significance to each available color. The only thing I can recall is that blue is a planet that has some form of storage structure. Beyond that, I don't bother. If I feel a planet has some significance worthy of being flagged, it just gets a random non-blue flag. I've got 36 out of 700+ planets flagged (less than 5%) and it's quite easy to see why each one of them is flagged. The other 700 will get purged (eventually). More colors with more self-defined "reasons" will just create more self-confusion IMO. If you want to improve the flagging system, I'd rather see a text box that appears when you hover on the flag/image or the planet name, but I don't know how hard that would be to code.
