How 'bout this for a Future Dominion Upgrade?

It seems clear that Dan can't make the attack bonus on the Dominions especially high, as otherwise low levels would be running around with giant PvP guns that were far stronger than their researchable guns. And this would also make planet invading too easy. But at the same time, 40 or 80 attack at high levels is pretty lackluster. When I wake up and get my morning artifact haul, I usually get enough prisoners to compete with the attack from the gun.
So why not have a special PvP-only bonus on the top-tier dominion cannon? Each gun ignores 3% of a opposing player's defense. Some major advantages:
Big damage boost, ONLY for PvP, so PvPing actually makes you better at PvP! Doesn't affect invasions at all - no worries about little ships suddenly taking over giant planets. Similarly, bases and NPC's are unaffected, the existing balance for those areas remains. The effect scales with player level and is useful for all players at all levels. Even though it would have a stronger effect when used against bigger players, a 12% boost isn't exactly a wrecking ball - big players will still be very well defended. (and of course, are more likely to be benefiting from Veloxes, Trinities, etc)

lol @ Dysonian worried that the "little guy" might have a big gun.
I've been in the Dysonians for a trade, and have seen ships like mine being used as projectiles. As one of the little guys, one of my primary fears is a Dysonian scanning one of my planets.

I mostly meant it in the context of little guys defending their planets from little guys. If I put 20,000 defense on a planet, the chance of a level 100 taking it is low, even if he magically got 1,000 added to his attack power.
But for the folks using City Shields and the like for defenses, an extra 1k attack is serious business. Low level players already have enough to worry about from big guys - an overpowered gun from PvP would make it even harder to hold onto good planets when one's research is low.

I think 4% (this percent would of course go 4+4+4+4, not 4*4*4*4) would be nicer inb4 complaint about how this would essentially negate the effects of the trinity cores that people pay for.

how about a dominion cannon upgrade thats dependant upon rank, like the surge cannon? lower levels would get lower versions and higher ranks would get higher versions. and to make it so they dont have to keep getting them why not make it upgrade with your ships level?
