Tip #1
First for me, ADD SCAN. I know, I know, everyone is saying lower it. That's if you want to fast rank and hit fewer of the annoying energy consuming npcs. If you are interested in moderate to quick ranking, plus rare npc drops, then add scan.

auto rank and try to hit with as few as needs for speed. Other then that. limiting the npc's you see works well to.

Personally, I am in the "Low Scan" camp. Rank 650, Drannik, autoranking. Therefore, I see and kill a LOT of NPCs. think I'm right around 27k non-player kills at the moment. I find probably 1-2 Troop Carriers a day and a LOT of rare NPCs. I found the Hybrid Larva using a continuum beacon and will bump my scan high enough to find Caelon in a week or two. Honestly, I find 3-4 Lazuli Fab plants per day, almost as many Xavox, a couple XRP Warp Stations per week, and enough of everything else to waste the energy of my lower ranking legion mates daily... I have a battle tab full of hive colonies(2), fab plants(2), dark complex(1), and an XRP at the moment..

The bottom line, I really think that it's a matter of numbers. If you want to find a particular rare, then just get your scan high enough to find that one. I really don't think having higher scan helps. I find more rare NPCs than other legion members with 3-4k scan. Me? Unbuffed, just over 1000. Just kill them.

You are probably right. Several folks have said the low scan route works very well. I have 12k energy to burn, so it might just be the longer npc run that allows me to find them. I have paused pvp to test some theories.

I have all ready filled all 8 spots with elite/boss NPC's its harder now since there are not as many to find and since all the elite's that I can find go really fast but all the same its not uncommon for me to have 4 or 5 spots full when I NPC really hard. All you need to do to do this is have high attack and defense and lots of GPs for energy (or a high energy bar) and NPC for hours. Sure lots of players don't have time to do that but to be honest that is not our problem. Its the only way to get a lot of good NPC's outside of really good luck.

Scanned 4 Harvesters today with 1395 Max Energy and one labpod the other day. Only running with 56 Scan though, don't want any bosses atm.
