...; credits optional.

I can see where this is easily going.

I used to play Verdonia, and sometime into my stay at that game, the trade goods hyperinflated to the likes I haven't seen since Zimbabwe dominated the current events. I think I personally owned over 7 1/2 quadrillion (or quintillion?) gold pieces before the game shut down.

For us to trade in a way that stops the climb to hyperinflation, could we trade item-for-item?

Let's say someone sells a pallet of 100 dark pyramids. They should be given an option like this:

REQUESTED ITEMS:

(number box) (item 1) <--{typed in a search or selected from a list; seller's preference}; AND; OR

(number box) (item 2); AND; OR

They can choose as many items as they're looking for. The tickboxes would be next to the "AND" and the "OR" option, to indicate whether they're asking for all the items to be sent, or an option of one item type or the other to be sent.

And then as always, the box where you enter the # of credits requested, as a supplemental or alternative payment if the seller so chooses.

How about you just don't buy stuff at hyperinflated prices. If enough people get their heads outta their asses the inflation will go down.

You can't make that happen single-handedly.

credits is a standard...having item for item removes the standard how does the game know you were outbid if someone puts 50 nanos over your 75 restorers or any other artifact?

It would be a "buy it now" standard for item-for-item by default, but I suppose a bidding standard for items could work too. (e.g. someone outbids you by 5 nanos by putting in 70 nanos)

But since the game itself can't know the values between various goods (they change especially when new missions come along), items can only be outbid by greater quantities of that same item.

So the first guy bids x amount of spy probes or cloning pods and now the buyer is stuck having to accept that as payment. No thanks.

It would have been so much nicer if instead of an auction house, we would've had an exchange. That would somewhat limit inflation and allow faster selling and buying of large quantities of smaller lots.
But that's way harder to implement of course. And would be a much more interactive feature.
Still, since we have an auction, not an exchange, I would love to see common features like a buyout price (would limit inflation) and extending the deadline of the auction for bids in the last minute (would actually encourage inflation, but as it stands, getting to an artifact that a lot of people are fighting over comes down to dumb luck)

It would have been so much nicer if instead of spending 8 months to change the dynamics of something that worked just fine as it was, we could've had more interesting content that gives us something to DO. That would somewhat limit the complaints about this GTC.
