endless research for modules?

Is there a top out or a point where you can not upgrade or research module line anymore? Or is there a endless level of research that will continue to grow? I am curious if the game at hight level evens out so that low level players now will catch up in time?

There is a limited amount of things to research, but they do add more things once in a while. I believe only 2 or 3 people have maxed out all the research, though.

ok so it would be very far off at the least, and should be added to as people get closer to that point. thank you for the response.
