I got a Dark Smugglers Cache, it gives you 8 hours of resource production. The problem is my capacity is about 4 hours of resource production.
(Side Note: This is another example of the big guys being penalized and the game not scaling fairly).
The storage structures are not an option, they offer to little storage space for what they cost and take up to much space on the planet.
I just hate using it and being cheated out of half its potential. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas about how to optimize this?

I don’t know if you are kidding, bragging or whining with all of your “I have too much resources and it’s not fair to me” posts.

I got one today, got cheated out of 4K rp i belive (maxed out) I think the rewards from that artifact should ignore max limits and give its full potential no matter if im 1 item from roofing or all empty.

Honestly, how you would feel if you lost half your production because you can't get online every four hours to check it and the game won't be fixed to make that right. Or if you become a target for mass hacking because anyone with a probe can see you are full and can't do anything about it. How is it fair when you work hard to build up your resources and are basically told that your hard work doesn't matter? It is like winning a race and then being told you get a medal than everyone else because you run to fast and someone wants to make it fair for the cripples.

Even though I am nowhere near needing to worry about the problem, I agree with furious.. Research points on the Daily Draw can put you over the max...

Albiet, I understand your point of view Kaos, that also does help balance out the game a bit to keep people from over focusing on one particular type of resource. Even with capping out on it, your still doing many many more draws on that resource during the day, once every hour to 2 hours, so your still gaining significantly more than most other people.

So Knight, you are saying that even though I have played the game longer, worked harder, been smarter than many others, I should be penalized to make it easy on the little guys who haven't done all that?

Yeah.. Cache should be an exceptional item that should grant you a full 8 hours worth of resources no matter if it went over your hard limit temporarily..

I believe this is true of alien data disks also and this would be the easiest way to deal with this problem.

To keep new players joining the game there should be some way for them to try and catch up. If the game is going to be dominated by a few that started in the first couple of months and spent money early then why should any new players join the game? You could try to increase the strength of your legion by handing out the really good planets you find, since you are probably already maxed out on research and have more credits then you can use. You could then hold onto the Dark Smugglers Cache until they add more research.

Using your logic, if you bias the game to the little guys and penalize the big guys you are basically telling them "It doesn't matter how much money you spend or how much you support the game, a day will come when screw you out of what you worked for." Dan has always claimed to make things fair and not give anyone an advantage yet here is ANOTHER obvious example of when he does code the game to benefit or penalize one player over another. While I don't believe he is doing this intentionally, the bad effects are the same.

You're hitting the same problem that all top-end players deal with in other MMO's. You're at level cap, plain and simple. The biggest difference here is that there's no major expansion to look forward to that raises everything by a significant amount. Now if Dan really wanted to be universally fair, there would be a hard-cap for pilot level until the next big update, so to speak. You're at the end of the race, and essentially asking him to extend the finish line out another 500 yards, then another 500, etc. This is going to be a bigger issue in about 6 months when there will probably be about 20-50 pilots right there alongside you, if not more. Hopefully the dev team here *is* working on something huge to adress this. The occasional extra tier of research just isn't going to make a long-term difference.
That being said though, there is a possibility. An option to "cash-in" your research points for artifact/minerals for a percentage, say half-value lost in the exchange. I'll post it in the suggestion forum, see how well it flies.

I fail to see how having more resources then you can use is a penalty to you. What exactly do you expect to get out of this game anyway? And if you consider this game "work" then maybe you should find a game to play in your free time.
When you play monopoly do you continue to play until you have all the property and all the money from the bank then call the company to complain that they did not put enough property in the game?

For one Monopoly is a board game and takes a day (or two) to complete. It was made to play with a small amount of players being your friends or family. While this on the other hand is a job for Dan. For us it is just fun but this is what Dan does. If he wants his work to be rewarding than he has to work at. Which he has been doing a great job of so far. We are just trying to give ideas that would help keep some of the longer playing, there for in most cases, the players who pay more interested in the game. If you owned a business would you spend your times helping those how use your store every once in a while or who just window shop (depending on store) if they complained that their time looking at your items would be better spent if you did this or that for them but they never really spent money on your products or would you try to please the big spenders who come often and buy a lot of high priced items. I'm sorry but if one of the big spenders came to me and asked me to upgrade this or that I think I would put that up to the front of the to do list and let the smaller things that the no spenders want on hold.

I was not really trying to compare this game to monopoly, I was trying to figure out why Kaos keeps asking questions about the 'problems' he has by having too many resources. He was not making a suggestion here to improve the game, he was complaining that the game is not fair to him. I think he should be happy with his over abundance of resources and stop complaining about it.
If the top 10 spenders spend more in a month then all the other players and it is enough to support Dan then he should cater to that group. Otherwise it might make more sense to build a game where new players can join and have some fun. If you join the game pay some money to build a nice planet then have it taken by someone who is a higher level that complains they have nothing to spend those resources on then you will probable never send any more money on this game.
I would not mind if the cache provided over the limit benefits. I do think that the resource storage buildings should provide 10 times more storage the they do now. If they did I would even consider buying them.

Kaos, the only suggestion i can think of is destroy a few research structures on each planet and replace them with artifact and mineral warehouses. you said your at the end of the research tree, so it shouldnt matter if you get a few less rp per day.

Venko, if you read my original post I pointed out that isn't a realistic option.

Now will you guys please stop threadjacking. If you don't have a suggestion or idea that is a reasonable answer to my question, your comment isn't needed or welcome.

You know Higher ranks players already benefits more than the lower rank, they have the ability to rank up faster than us, atleast, that's what i heard.
