 Dark Smugglers Cache Strategy

FWIW, I am about 1/3 his level and still run into the same problem as he does when it comes to research and the Dark Smugglers cache.

The closest thing I've found to a solution is to focus more on artifacts which have a higher limit and and just install more tachyon satelites on your nicer research planets and try to not settle as many research planets. A smart phone and a newtonian sleep schedule are about the only alternative. As you have pointed out already, research becomes more and more pointless as you get further down the tree. The minerals necesary to support the tech from a research-heavy strategy will fill up almost as fast as the research.

OK, trying to get this back on topic. Who has a suggestion of how to deal with this in the current rules of the game?

The best solution is one that you think won't work. Grab some structures that increase your cap. I keep my cap higher for just this reason. If I'm not going to be on every 4 hours, no reason to get my production so high it maxes in that time.

I would have to add 47 structures taking up 235 spaces at a cost of 752 galaxy points just to add one hour of capacity to all my resources. That costs WAY to much and one hour would barely make a dent, it certainly would not solve the problem

I never really understood the purpose of storing cap in the first place. What is it's purpose ? Trying to get you online as often as possible ? You get penalized by others hacking and raiding you if you don't spend your resources and being inactive will get you kicked out of your legion not to mention that you will start losing planets.
Energy being capped should be the only limited storage factor. If you ask me that is. Otherwise the rest are just some more adds to the game being frustrating.
Alternatively, they could implement a new research tree that deals with storage.

You guys can't use up the minerals, Artifact points and Research before you use it?


I under stand if you have a 21500 research cap and produce 1500 per hour.. that is 14 hours to max it.. I don't know what the cap is for your lvl.

No the players that have this prob have the production of 10K or higher an hour. I think Kaos has a research production of 20K so he fills up really fast. I have one of close to 15K an hour so I fill up pretty fast as well. I also have the mineral production of 10K an hour so that fills up faster as well.

8 hours of research is more than my rank cap. This math isn't correct but it will illustrate the point.

I make 1000 research an hour. My rank cap is 6000 research. So in 6 hours, I will fill up my research. Even if it is empty, I would only get 6 hours worth of Dark Cache value instead of 8 hours. And at any level, 2000 research points you don't get is a lot!

All in all why the cap ? What is the purpose ? Other than losing sleep, getting annoyed etc.

Yeah, even I'm getting close, 8 hours of mining will more than fill it, and less than 12 hours for research, and I haven't used any terraforming devices on any of my planets (put them all into the mission so far) and I've never gotten a Quasi-Spacial Expander, so it is starting to seem kind of low. I can understand with the players who got a bunch of those before they were nerfed, but just by having good structures and a few good artifacts (Gifts, Optimizers, and Purifiers) even I'm having trouble. But luckily I am very short on artifacts, so at least I have that option, but still.

Because if we took them off it you would think it would be unfair. Really think about it if the game had no limits whenever you started and you came on here and saw us saying how nice it was to log in in the morning and have 150K+ research points what would you do. You would say it was unfair because the high ranking players can get that and the smaller players are stuck with what they got. Why do the high ranking players get to have their production so high. Its not fair! You should make it even for everyone! And so on. Really that is what you would say. You are never happy with anything that gives high ranking players an advantage over you and now since you are getting to the point where you are about to loss some of your production while away you don't think its fair that you have to lose any.

You are comparing arbitrary, useless, pointless caps that only aggravate people, if anything, with those new fluxes and my opinion on keeping them off-limits of low rank players. Obviously, you don't know me or what I would do if. So I would appreciate it if you would keep the assumptions concerning me for yourself. Savvy ?

So this you think would be a fair thing? I'm sorry your right I don't get it I thought you where just against everything that gave the larger players an advantage in the game and this would give us a HUGE advantage.

I would like to see this item be able to ignore the current limits, i'm a relatively small ship but even my research production will fill in less then 8 hours, I may not lose out to the same degree but still lose out. The only thing I can think is to store it and see if Dan will entertain the idea of changing the way it works so it always gives its full ammount. I believe some other items already do this.

The point is that someone could be offline for days, contribute nothing, log in and with abut 2 dozen clicks of a mouse be right back where they were. Guys like me could log in once a week and collect HUGE caches of EVERYTHING.

Low levels and people using multi-player accounts could only log in when they wanted to get a bunch of artifacts or level all at once.

The purpose is to add consistency to the game. Losing sleep is not necessary but having some sort of restraint is.

The only thing i can think of is if you demolish a bunch of production buildings, then make them agian. Although that would probably, no, will, cost a TON of money at your level, huh? Unless you get enough minerals that you can sell them. Or something.
