So a friend and i were talking earlier about how some people love pvp while others don't, and we came up with an idea for a ship setting that would prevent you from doing any ship-to-ship combat options, but would also prevent others from doing this to you. This ability would be able to be activated as long as your ship is "calm" pvp status (no offensive actions in the last 24 hours).
So the idea is that the ability would prevent all hostile actions against you, including hacking, raiding and using any artefacts against you, while your combat reputation would be displayed as "Pacifist" (rather than "Grand Master / Weak" etc) regardless of your actual rep. This would in essence make your ship invulnerable to enemy actions, however this protection WILL NOT be extended to your planets, as they are a different side of combat, neither would it stop your ability to attack enemy bases. This protection could cost energy to activate and would last at least a week to around a month maximum, and would be able to be re-activated.
As we mentioned bases just now, just to clarify, this ability would cause any Red, Blue or Yellow badge-based modules on your ship (so Dominion Cannon / Auto-Blaster, CipherBot, Decryption Quad / Sentry - Frame and Protean Armouries) to either be uninstalled, or give no bonuses if you don't have enough spare cargo, in order to display your pacifist nature. Silver and Dark badge modules would be unaffected, but the Green module (Atmospheric Decimator) would also give no bonuses while under the pacifist effect.
Some benefits of this would be : *Non-Pvp players can focus on missions and NPC-ing without having to worry about being disabled and having to repair to do some missions (such as several Xecti missions for example) only to be disabled again later. *Pvp-ers would be able to challenge themselves by fighting those who have an avid interest in pvp. *Less null fuses would be wasted on hitting Krionus traps before hitting a Halcyon trap (hopefully ending the complaints about these). *Must be "calm" to use this, which would prevent people from using it to hide after a PvP spree.
However to use this ability there would be some side effects (most of the below have been mentioned above) : *Pacifists won't be able to use a majority of the Battle Market Items. *As with the above, Pacifists would not be able to use red badges to lock bases (as they probably would not have any due to lack of PvP) and would not be able to buy the Yellow/Green badge-based planet items (for the same reason). *Planets of Pacifists would still be open to attack, however they would have the same rules from the owner (planet traps, drannik planet effects, guarding planets etc). Pacifists guarding planets would be automatically warped away if the population reaches invasion limit.

LOL! You have to go a lot further than that if you want to be totally excluded from PvP...
You can't guard a planet at all because your stats count towards the planet's defense stats. That's not pacifist. You can't alert enemy planets. You can't alert your own planets. Why should others be allowed to guard your planet? Do it yourself. You can't attack bases because PvP badges are required to find them. Your race/profession and active status would not count toward any "defender" abilities if your base gets locked. No access at all to the battle market. Even dark badges provide a weapon and magnetospheres can be used to add attack for a planet.

Ship-bots can be used as grief counselors to console your sensitive crew. Every time you repair, you get the "Are you sure? They might hurt your pretend ship again." button. When you turn on the game music, it's the lonely sound of a very small violin.

GL has long sense been a "war" game what content dan has put out has let passive players do missions and npc hunt see there is a wonderful trap called a halc that will protect you from attacks, and to anyone who whines "but i still have to repair my ship" i call you a fool repairing a partially damaged hull is chump change and if it take a large chunk of your credit pool then you clearly have really below standard mining production....
