A legion mate and I just got into a bit of an argument and i want to see what everyone's take on this was. I am rank 180 He is rank 955. What he is trying to say is regardless of rank rank points should almost never be spend on decks, helmsman, cargo or scientist. I agree to a point. Helmsman can be gained fairly easily at higher levels with artifact points. Same thing goes for cargo and scientist with Androids mass storage points etc. What i personally think is that rank points should be spend between decks and TOs until you get enough decks to fit most of your mods comfy. Roughly 1500-2000 from what i read. Until you reach that many decks there is not much point in adding 5 TOs and increasing attack by 10 vs adding 5 decks upgrading your cannons and increasing attack by 50+. Once you get to the point though, or close to it, where you can't upgrade your cannons anymore or that you get enough ship bots to stabilize growth off of those then you should start putting rank points into TOs. The only problem i see with this is my legion mate is telling people who are getting >1,000 Ap an hour and are below rank 100 to only use ship bots which they never get, thus leaving them with a smaller ship less mods less defense and even fewer attack. He believes that my advice is" inaccurate and ineffective" to the point where i was told to leave the Facebook group and stop giving advice. How do you think rank points should be spend? feel free to express your opinion.

early on i'd say spend mostly on decks, and later on mostly on tactitional officers. remember that the more decks you have the higher your damage cap is. also you can get ship bots to increase your number of decks.

i agree with you on that and that is what i was trying to explain to my legion mate but he is talking people ranked 10-100 to only put there rank points into Tactitional officers. Most of the time when you are rank 10-100 unless you are fighting someone way higher rank, have really low defense or are fighting bases your usually don't get hit for near you cap.

not something i recommend doing for lower ranks, if they do want to spend a ton of points on TOs then try to balance it with decks. for your rank 180 i recommend balancing it with TOs as your probably getting ship bots regularly now from artifact shipments.

I am putting rank points into TOs and Engineers, decks will come naturally later. Of course, I started by putting rank points into decks, but to steadily increase damage cap as well as keeping everything balanced, I am now adding to energy and TOs. To state my main reason of adding crew in this early stage of my reset (rank 20 right now), it is a real big helper when it comes to raids. I am @ 110 decks, 50 TOs, and 140 engineers.

i know that is mostly what im doing now a mixture of TO and decks however i am not looking for advice what happened was someone in a training legion asked for advice in a facebook legion i told them how i play the game and then the argument started because i disagree with him(the rank 955 not the person asking for advice).

I would tilt slightly toward your approach, since full on TOs from 10-100 is too extreme (no point if you cannot at least place on hull to stay alive longer) and would make to be a poor SSB if that was included in the plan.

thank you most of the people who are asking for advice need more mods to make themselves a more pain to kill/disable. It would if they are going for a micro ship build but most of them don't even know what that is as i said they are in a training legion asking for advice.

Him being rank 955 and thinking his way is the only effective and decent way to play the game i don't think anything will convince him, and i am not sure if he has a forums account.

You can get decks from ship bots. You will eventually get more ship bots than you need decks. Placing your rank points into TOs and Engineers does 2 things. In the short run it makes you a bit weaker than other since you will have a difficult time fitting items, but in the long run you will be stronger than those around you because you put more rank points into those than they did.

I would say the earlier you can get your artifact production high enough to be able to provide enough ship bots (probably like 10-15k+) then you can stop putting into decks. You will be better off.

I used my rank points on decks up until approximately 1450 decks, and I don't think I'll regret it. I will hate, one day far in the future, my excess of shipbots, but you just can't do anything with too few decks. I'm going full T.O.s now, and it's going nicely as well.

like i said though hes telling people who are getting less then 1,000 AP/hr to put into TOs that wouldn't be so bad if they had an artifact legion but its a research and artifact legion (15k rp 3k ap a day.) thanks for you opinion i just want to see what everyone thinks of it.

I'd say 10k AP/h would probably be best if using only shipbots for decks before having at least 1k decks. I still barely get any shipbots, even though the base pays out a fair bit of AP. Seems like I get Prisoners more commonly than Shipbots.
