Up to this point, people above lv 100 should know this game well. May be even knowing it too well, being too rich, and too strong ~ just nothing can surprise them anymore. The easy ship/base repair system of this game is making it too safe and boring. I suggest that Galaxy Legion can start a new hard core mode server where registered players from lv 100 can only PvP with +/- 10 lv that can actually get their ship/base destroyed, and once it is destroyed you lose EVERYTHING and have to start all over again with nothing. This will be exciting!

P.S. A good game takes good input from players. If you are interested with this idea, please share you opinion and idea.

-1 you had me until that last part. i've worked to hard to improve my ship. I'm not gonna risk it being destroyed.

it's an idea, that part doesn't have to be implemented. the rest of it sounds good, but I rather it was higher ranking, maybe for the 1k+ who have nothing better to do.

You can only fight those in hc mode, there are no traps or they are reduced in effectiveness. Maybe have handicaps, like reduce energy regen or double the cost of energy for things for bonus attack and defense. chances of critical hits are doubled, goes for raids and hacks as well.

Benefits are that all planets are L+ MR+ (probably make a few new types to go with this, maybe the NPC planets).

i said that. but yeah the rest of it sounds good. like fluffy said it should be for higher ranks.

I don't really want to go through another 100 ranks and get over 20B back just because I pissed off some guy who alerted me to his legion.

let's see if we can make this work.
+/-10 will leave some of the higher player in a place where they have no target. so I'd say +/-10% instead. Considering the penalty of "death" as outlined below, this should allow everyone to have a target.

Here is what I would imagine a hard core type of server would be:

Penalty of death:
base: when base is disabled
50% chance lose base fund equal to upkeep*5, if unable to pay then this option is removed and the other option gain an increase in chance
30% chance to lose 1 random module on the base. If no module on base, then this option is removed and the other option gain an increase in chance
20% chance to lose 10% progress toward next level(EM, CTP and energy). If any ONE type is insufficient, then the other two must lose 20% progress. If any ONE type is insufficient, a 2nd type is only between 10-20%, zero those two then the 3rd type must lose 40% progress. If any TWO type is insufficient, zero them, the 3rd type lose 60% progress. If none of the above can be meet, decrease base level by 1, progress 95% on all 3 types. If base level is already one when this lowering is required, legion is disbanded.

ship: When you are zeroed:
50% chance to deal 10-30% quality damage to all modules
30% chance to lose 10-50 rank point worth of assorted stats(crew, deck, cargo)
10% chance to lose 1 random module (this can be research, NPC or mission module)
8% chance to lose 10 ranks and 100 rank point worth of assorted stats(crew, deck, cargo), if you have more planet than you can afford at the rank, all planets cease production until player abondon some or rank back up.
1.9% chance to lose 20 ranks, 300 rank point worth of assorted stats(crew, deck, cargo). If you have more planet than you can afford at the rank, the player that performed the last action against you is allowed to gain up to 3 random locations of your planets(if you only have 2 "too many", for example, they only get 2 locations). If he choose to invade them, the success chance is 100%. Furthermore, all planets cease production until you can support them all.
0.1% rank reduce to 1, ship stat change to that of starter ship. the player that performed the last action against you is allowed to gain up to 5 random locations of your planets, works same way as above. Lose all ship modules, missions that award ship modules are reset. All non-mission artifacts and all module artifacts are removed from inventory. all badges are removed. all planets cease production until you can support them all.

Remember, the OP said a hard core SERVER which means it's a CHOICE whether you want to join into that. So you wont be losing your progress if you stay right here.

The topic author started by saying it is HARD CORE MODE, why would you then want to come along and wussy it up?
If it is voluntary, as in you have to make a clear choice to enter the area/mode, then you go in understand that your ship could be blown back to zero. I will give the idea a +1.

First of all, thanks for the replies from you guys. Can't say these 9 replies is sufficient to represent the entire population, but it should (more or less) reflected that the majority is not much interested in taking risk. Maybe most people like this game the way it is, a way that you can never risk "too much", a way that you can have everything fix easily, or maybe a way to have something to click every night before going to bed. Anyway, I like text games, but I don't think I would like being a lv 1000 and have nothing to do in GL. I think I will just keep playing GL until I find a better one.

I hope something like this happens about battling one another. within 10 ranks I should be unstoppable later on although losing everything would seem a bit harsh with all the money spent on artifacts, planets, and ships.maybe something else should happen. lose something of value/crew.

yeah i agree with most of what stuffbeary just said. instead of destroying and ship and making us start over, how about making us lose crew or damaging our modules.

at the end of the day this suggestion is pretty poor so lets just forget it, a mode like this is not needed overpowered and would mean more people would leave the game since people don't want all the work on their ship/ base to just be destroyed!!! -1 million

Anything that involves losing ranks Dan will most likely not implement for a couple of reasons:
1. People will be able to hold more planet slots than normal, via a glitch in the game because they lost rank. In other words if a rank 100 colonizes 21 planets, and loses about 20 ranks he should be holding 17 planets. So the game might let him get away with that. If the game allowed him to abandon the 4 planets he might choose his four crappy planets and abandon them. Creating a loophole in spending GP for abandoning it. So losing ranks would be glitchy and hard for the server to fix fairly.
2. Losing ranks mean more chances for people to rank up. Meaning more energy refills at an easier rate than usual. And they also earn extra rank points which they can stock. So someone can rank up to lvl 100. Lose on purpose and stock up on 100 Rank points by the time they get back to level 100.
3. Losing ranks also mean that allocated rank points that were awarded for ranking up would have to be taken back. The game can't remember exactly how you put your rank points in order due to lag issues. Allowing people to keep their ranks points or again lose them viz a glitch.

Anyway you put it losing ranks is a bad idea. Not to mention that it can hurt Dan's wallet...

the quick an easy suggestion.... AS SUGGESTED HUNDRED TIMES OVER...... is to have a whole seperate server, set up that server with some rules as outlined above ( death / destruction / mayhem ) at let people have another account for this server alone - NOT breaking TOS - if they so choose to.

I personally would love to have a hard core server with a brand new start where everything this is for keeps, would make PvP a whole lot more difficult and would either force people to play differently or rage quit all together. It would be a refreshing change to GL and something that even higher ups could participate in, since everyone who is on that server would start from scratch.

things I would add to something like this :

1. make it a little more RPG oriented -> make it so that everyone has a small POS ship they start off in until they can afford one of the standard ships, stats would be debatable.

2. for Pete's sake give hacker and raider something useful, scrap their current ability for something like "scour : you have + 30% to find useful parts / tech / research from ships you have destroyed - either PvP, NPC, or both.

3. DO NOT MAKE IT A PERMA-DEATH SERVER, it would suck to find a nat dyson and when you die be forced to start over with all new planets and such, simply have a new research tree or archetype ( whatever ) about escape pods / shuttles or just make it a new ship mod.

4. Have the ship captain get the points instead of the ship, so if they choose to spend points on nothing but decks, thats their fault when they loose it all.

I would certainly dig a server where the penalties are much harsher, but not total destruction.

Removing the action limit on this other sever, aswell as the TM limit would be a great addition, aswell as increasing (3-4x) the amount stolen. Old-style critical raids (although maybe just a set # in AP points, so you wouldn't get 1 cloning pod over 1 flux) could make a return, aswell as an increase in critical hacks.
