Base Battle red circle in battle tab

Hi guys,

I am just throwing this out here but every now and then a alerted base gets unnoticed by some people because of to much comm chatter, etc. I just would like to suggest to have a little red box with a 1 on the base battle button in the battle tab just like we have with elites. That way it doesn't get missed and we don't waste 5 badges on it.

Cheers
Alex

while this is nowhere close to being needed it does actually conform to the rest of the system's set up for handling alerts, so +1

Seriously, how hard is it when you're already on the page to just click Enemy Bases? It tells you right there if Your legion has disabled BlahBlahStarbase or if Your legion has established a lock on BlahBlahStarbase.

newbies don't always check. <- i think thats the main point of the idea. like me and elerian already said not really needed but not a bad idea either.

I know it's not really needed but it would definitely help for newbies or people that have a very busy and hectic day in wich case a little red button would be helpful

Here's why Dan hasn't banned me for being a negative nancy. I actually think things out before I say yay or nay....

With base battles, you have three scenarios. A-No base locked, clear timer. B-Base is locked and alive, timer running. C-Base is locked and disabled, timer running.

A-No base locked, clear timer. Indicator = 0
B-Base is locked and alive, timer running. Indicator = 1

Now, here's where the problem occurs. What do you do with a base that is still locked, but already disabled?

C1-Base is locked and disabled, timer running. Indicator = 0
or
C2-Base is locked and disabled, timer running. Indicator = 1

If you go with C1, then an Indicator = 0 is going to be ambiguous. Either the timer is clear, or the current lock is disabled. Therefore, you would need to click the button to find out if you need to scan for a base or if you need to raid and/or twiddle your thumbs.

If you go with C2, then an Indicator = 1 is going to be ambiguous. Either the base is alive or dead. Therefore, you would need to click the button to find out if you need to attack the base or if you need to raid and/or twiddle your thumbs.

Either way you go, C1 or C2, you will have an ambiguous indicator, necessitating a click of the button. So adding an indicator like shared NPCs is going to have 0 net effect most of the time. Now, if base locks expired upon the disable of the base, this would all be moot and the suggestion would have some (not much, but some) merit. But that's not how it works, bases stay on the tab until the lock expires at 8 hours.

bah you said it in less words. however I did forget to take into account what would happen when the base was disabled and what that would do to the system.

we don't get an indicator when there are no NPCs, or whatever. Default state should be no indicator.

From there, Base Locked should be indicator Appears (1)

Then for base locked but disabled, it shoudl be Indicator = (0)

(Though, to play devil's avdocate:

You could also make the case that it would be more in line to have the indicator always be (1) with a base locked, because NPCs do this even though you have done them damage to a Lock, and Artifacts button always shows 4, even though there has only been two new artifact in the last 6 months.

Still I think the above solution I outlined is best.)

To recap concisely:

A) No Indicator (No Bases Locked)
B) Indicator = 1 (Base Locked & active)
C) Indicator = 0 (Base Locked, but disabled)

remember the 4th case: have an invite. thou u can consider this part of 2nd
this gets washed up by comm even faster, and is harder to track via comm cause u dont know the timer when it is shared.

I always click to check so it wont help me much, but it's one of those things that wont hurt so... as long as it's not too hard, why not

Not having idle invites in our legion, I completely forgot about that situation. I'd say that just gives more justification to just push the button...

Vagazzle it.

But seriously, base invites are a leader/officer commitment, leaders and officers are far more likely to pay attention to the base button and click it to look for pending, but it would be good to know when you CAN get a lock, or your assistance is needed, or the base is disabled and it's time to get your self a stupid Tri-phase (if you feel like the extra button clicking is worth one.. ;) ).

I don;t think the "invites waiting" is a worth-while indicator level personally, but if you insist I suggest this:

Green 0 = no lock, no invites
Yellow N = No Lock, # of invites you have pending
Red 0 = Base Locked and Disabled
Red ! = Base Locked & Not disabled (Yes, I favor the exclamation point over the #1 since there is only 1 base which can be locked at a time, and a nice fat exclamation Mark might draw more attention.)

Alternately
