 base battles

i think it would be a good idea for instead of just ships hitting bases if bases could hit bases and ships prtect the base,but also still do damge.

I think that this is an okay idea, would be nice if we could have somebody to protect the base while someone has locked it. For example if The Knights Who Say Ni locked your base it would help out a bit if you could protect it by guarding it or something.

ships protecting bases is something that i would like to see. it makes to no sense to me in my head that the ships of a legion do nothing to defend their base of operations. +1 to this idea. as for bases attack each other I'm not too sure on how that would work but if anyone can come up with a good system for that then ill +1 that as well.

Adds a sense of tactics, if a team has to defend and another attack. Maybe some new medals for this as well.

Bases aren't meant to be for attacking they are suppose to be in 1 spot for a long time (unless they move it). They are there just to give resources and defend them selves (not attack for fun). So no -1 i have to say.

Have you never seen the old series of Battlestar Galactica?
Clearly the old Cylon Base stars could attack, they were also their bases!

really? You wouldn't epect that. But im gonna still say -1 because this will eliminate normal base battles for low lv legions with high tech they will be able to damage more

base battles are really 1 sided at the moment. one side hammers away at the base while 1 side just sits back and hopes they fail. i have my doubts about bases being used to fight back, but I'm definatly in full support of ships being able to defend bases.

Lets say just for example, if you disable a defending ship you get to have an attack run on the base, and just repeat this process until all defenders have been eliminated.
Defenders that successfully disable an attacking ship, that ship can no longer attack the base, giving base defenders the chance to stop an attack instead of just sitting back and praying that they survive the attacking onslaught without being able to do a thing about it.

If you are disabled you cannot fight. There is a lot of logic in this idea.

  • Battlestations
    boosts base attack by 2% for each loyal member in your legion that has been online in the last 24 hours. Lasts 4 hours.

  • Auxiliary Fortification
    Boosts base hull maximum by 10% for each Loyal Lazuli race or Fixer profession in your legion. Lasts 4 hours.

  • Grid Surge
    Boosts base shield output by 10% for each loyal physicist in your legion. Lasts 4 hours.

  • Dimensional Decoy
    Boosts base defense by 5% for each loyal Aerlen member in the legion. Lasts 4 hours.

  • Emergency Repair
    Repairs 3% of the base hull for each Loyal Fixer profession in your legion.


Right there is your legion defending the base and fighting back. Look, if you don't want your base to get disabled anymore, build a better base. Our battle group has 3 of the top 5 legions plus another top 10 legion. We fight bases as a team every 8 hours. Even against us, there are level 5 bases that are built strong enough that it just isn't worth the effort and energy required to attack them. THAT is how you defend your base. Build it so well that only the very strongest groups CAN beat it, but it's so intensive that they don't WANT to.

The Que Continuum Second Row has a level 6 base. A rather nice one in fact. How would you like to be their pilots when Dyso, GP, TU and PotC come at the base? Weak legions with big bases are going to be screwed over royally. It's not bad enough that their base gets disabled, but you want to throw their ships in the line of fire as well? I can see Butthurt^2

Although, on the other hand... I can see how this would give an advantage to the top legions... It makes our bases all but invincible.

All well and good saying this Darth, but not everyone in the legion has access to the base abilities or able to build base modules, so how does the current system involve the legion as a whole and as a team? it doesnt. This idea gives the legion a chance to defend the base and actually take part instead of relying on the leadership to defend the base!!!
