Alerting NPCs during Deep Meditation

Will alerting an elite NPC set you back to the beginning for the Deep Meditation medal? I just wanted to make sure, although it says "Go 30 days without leaving a legion, sending an alert on a planet, and/or sending an alert on an enemy player." and doesn't mention NPCs.
