As a new CT lab item/artifact shipment/or NPC drop.
Temporary effect of 20 minutes or so, allows a player to see how much shield/hull an enemy ship has remaining once they are engaged in a pvp battle.
Don't know why it is we can see how much population is left for planet invasions, hull/shield in NPC and base battles, but can't see how much armor someone has left in pvp.
I don't even need the exact number, I'll even take a percentage of the shield/hull an enemy ship has left.

Nope. If PVPing was dead before this, this would kill it for sure. It would take all judgement out of it and make it boring as hell. I can't stress enough how big this -1 is.

-1.

People would take one hit and judge how much energy it's gonna take.

I think knowing exactly how much work needs to be done will encourage pvp.
You don't have to use this artifact if you don't want to.

If this artifact were to come out in the game, then PVPing would be too much like NPCing. It'd require no strategy in picking your targets.

The strategy is to pick a target you have enough resource to take down instead of shooting blindly and wondering if you have the energy to finish someone off.

If you're that short on energy, you probably shouldn't be PvPing in the first place. -1 for this idea.

How you differentiate an energy efficient kill and an energy draining one is the strategy. Plus, the existence of defense and attack spy probes have already made pvp easy. Making pvp any easier than it is now would ruin it.

^^ what he said.
I did that with one guy for literally 5 minutes.. then sent him a msg asking if he was having fun.. he was quite rude and asked why i hadnt set another trap to alert him to the fact that i was online... as if im supposed to help my enemies out in saving their energy.
he must have thought i had an ungodly massive hull.

Off topic and prolly a noob question, but how did you refresh you hull quickly enough without spamming krio for the immediate update? Did you just refresh the whole page? Is there some other means of rapidly getting hull update that I'm unaware of?

I think he meant that he was constantly restoring his hull with nanos without popping on traps so that the enemy will only believe he's firing on hull and more hull but no traps, therefore coming upon the assumption that his target is an offline brick wall.

EDIT: I get what your question meant now. I always estimate my hull when it comes to this. Risky, but I have enough hull to allow that kind of estimation.

Never used f5. Just switch between news. Ship. Mission etc and it will update quick enough. I do have 17k definitely and 27k hull, so I've got time.
