How much mining is need to support 8 of the mediums Thetacron cannons at rank 150?

a good 5k mining should do it.

Couple things... It depends on the other equipment you have. Also play style comes into play as a PvP player, NPC player and Missions player will all have varying amounts of repair costs. Are you Builder? What level planet structures do you have? And wait until you get past 160 so you can draw Aidonium.

Personally, I wouldn't even bother with medium weapons. Just go straight for the heavy version. What I would do in your place would be determine how much PROFIT you make every day after your upkeep is factored out. Then figure out the CHANGE in upkeep going from your current weapons to Heavy Thetas (http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/Weapons). Will your daily PROFIT cover the increased upkeep? If not, how close is it?

Research through the Heavy Thetas then focus on Planet Buildings. Get at least the +6 but preferably the +8s. You won't need to buy any planets then. Also, only colonize VL Toxics for mining production. They are by far the easiest to upgrade, gradually increasing your production without the need for additional planets.

It's silly trying to do it at rank 150, but if I remember Strm's thread asking almost the same thing at 200, it takes 5k to afford Heavies at 200. Now, income nearly doubles at 200, but you're only looking at mediums, so I'd say a good 7-8k.

Doesn't matter. They aren't worth it at your rank.
if you can afford them you are either lacking elsewhere, or have something/someome supporting you (gp, leftovers from a reset, gracious benefactor)
The mere fact that you asked tells me the latter is not your situation and with that it also means you should not be upgrading to thetas period.
Also should note that switching to builder so as to afford them would be a horrible idea.

Condensed version: If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

im getting them now at rank 250....(after all my 8 defence mods and heavy syncs will work out 3.5B not builder)

so put it this way if you got heavy nulls and are upgrading to heavy thetas you will get an extra 464 attack for 1.5k BILLION per DAY. that's if you already have all 8 heavy nulls on.


think.....not worth it yet. just because you may look big with them on, does not mean they won't cripple you. and with a low mining and rank they will pounce on your credits. :/

In my personal opinion, they're not really worth it. Just through plenty of rank points into Tac Officers. You'll get enough attack soon enough and save yourself the over priced cannons.

Personally I would just stick with the light theta crons. They give a large Atk jump from nulls due to a tier jump in tech from nulls to thetas, but still have an affordable upkeep

Yuck. Yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck. Sorry, but yuck. You'd get a total of 224 attack from the upgrade to Light Thets. On the flipside, you'll also be paying out an additional 600M/day. Heavy Thetas grant an additional 464 attack, for a total upkeep increase of around 1.5B. Both are not very cost effective, but perhaps worthwhile if you prepare properly.

By "preparing properly" that includes waiting until a viable rank. Rank 200 is the minimum to reasonably afford Heavy Thetacron Cannons, although I believe that some have done it at lower. The reason for this, is that the cannons all by themselves will take some 6-8k mining to cover prior to 200, depending on trading. That just isn't funny. By 200, it's down to just 4k to completely cover Thetas, with no trading. Ideally, I'd go for 5.5k-6k.
