How would gaining 2 attack per kill add up to anything more than gaining AP/hour from NPCing?

That would completely ruin the purpose, you have to build a strong ship already to be able to obtain 5000 Kills just for the option to get the sentry bot. The point is to create incentive to PvP, and if you don't PvP while youre a lower rank chances are that you wont PvP when you're a higher rank. If you're able to get 5000 kills before rank 300, hats off to you. They'd deserve this mod by all means.

I'd say a better way to balance this would be for the sentry bot to only gain 2 attack every time you disable someone that meets two criteria
1; has a combat reputation of menacing or higher.
2; are within your rank range or above.

This would make farming no longer a source of kills for the sentry bot

Isn't the sentry bot (total misnomer in my opinion) supposed to prove your worth in combat?
Running around farming mission ships (usually laughables) sure as heck isn't proving your mettle as a fighter at all.

Either way, you're putting energy in to disable a ship. There are some laughable reps out there put everything into defense and hull to make it that much harder for you to disable somebody. There have been some laughable reputations that have taken me more energy than insane reputations, and vise versa of course.

Combat reputation is indeed one hundred percent BS!
When i do a pvp run for badges if it happens that no one with badges is online to scan for bases, i kind of facepalm at the fact that all those "insanes" from a higher rank sometimes have less than 50% of my stats, and i even autoranked 400 times in 2 days

Again you show no knowledge about PvP. I've saw 'Laughables' have better ship than few 'Mennace', 'Insane' on my BT. I've disabled tough ships as well, that won't stop me from badging you. If I know you have a good ship, I'll most likely hit you (if I see you on my BT). I want some more players PvPing no matter what rank they are in, we saw 2 good ships that have gotten bored and leave due to lack of PvP content, yeah I know PvP is nothing like NPCing, since NPCing would improve your ship much better and faster. I want a PvP Module that would help PvP fanatics to atleast get something out of PvPing than statistics. We/I want something that can help my ship and don't get me wrong, the new Battle Market upgrades are good and all but there's a point that the module(s) won't matter upon reaching a certain point in the game. PvP has nothing to give back so why should the high ranks bother? More PvP content, no just game content is what we GL players look for and I think PvP should be apart of the conversation.

Fair enough, I agree that PvP content is lacking. But is this sentry bot overpowered and too easy to rank up? is there a limit to how powerful it gets?

I support the idea now but it just needs tweaking. :|
Perhaps the +2 attack per kill is only rewarded when you disable someone that also has a sentry bot equipped?

It's probably not over powered. You can theorymon all you like, but until you actually test something like this there's very little way of knowing.

hmmm interesting idea.
definitely needs some tweaking though.

as it is this weapon can be ridiculously overpowered at lower ranks.
its would not be hard to come up with 50-100 kills a day. after hitting 5k kills that is an additional 3-6k attack a month

few tweaks i think that would help in some combination
decrease required kills to 2500, but increase badges required to 2500 as well
raise the rank requirement, and or add a medal point requirement (700?)
decrease it to 1 per kill
make a setting on it that upgrades the blaster by consuming red badges (when active you dont get badges for kill, but instead they go directly to powering up the cannon)
put a cap on the amount it can upgrade per day

just a few possible ideas

very nice idea, few tweaks, increase rank requirement up to 500 at least, medal points up to 800 medal points, have it as a ranking sort of ally, where it gains 5 attack per level, levels every 20 kills withing badging range withing badging time, when rank 100, gives a 2% bonus to attack (max rank 100) (2000 kills/reds to max level) Minimum kills at 2.5/2.6k also to unlock it. What do you think?

You have to count the higher ranked players... PvP Kills is very hard to earn at that rank phase. I would also add that 5 Ranks per day for the ally so it won't be quick to reach r100.
