Also, stealing a previous suggestion, that you should get one green badge per planet ever regardless of owner, legion, stats, ect...


Basically, no single planet can ever give you more than one green badge or more than one Insurgent Uprising medal progress.

Problem is the system doesn't track any of that. Not sure how much space that would take.

:lol: That would be funny, wouldn't want to be the guy doing the fluxing though. Sorry I just don't see the problem here for the main topic, there is already a day cool down for invasions and a week per planet for green badges.

i did kick a planet back and forth with 1 pilot after my invasion caused an uprising ... i didn't want to keep the planet (only took it to rank up my bane), so it worked for both of us.

that said, i like how this small change would help address the overall football issue without unbalancing anything, so +1.

and for KJReed's point ... you can't get a green badge from the same player once a week, so *something* is tracked. instead of a list of players, you have a list of planets. the only time the list has to be checked is after a successful invasion, so server load should not be an issue.

As it is you only need to have the names of the owners in one week. I would think permanently revising the names of every owner would take more space.

You wouldn't need owners per planet, neccesarily. Rather, the server could keep a log of which planets a ship has already previously invaded (So if someone steals your planet and you reclaim it then you still get a green and rebellious recapture). This will have to keep a log of, what, an average of about 50 planet names per player? Dan has said previously that planets take up very little space of the server; that's WITH all of the resource information and stuff. Keeping simply the name of a planet on your ship is very little space; a line of coding to specify 'if previously invaded, no green and no medal progress' and then a log of previously invaded planets. Changing planet names could screw with this; perhaps planets could have a 'planet number' which is not seen by members but is kept on the system. A, perhaps, 12 digit code quite simply signifying the planet's number in the galaxy. Arbitrarily assigned; perhaps in alphabetical order of current names.

If you did opt for owners per planet, then whilst there are a number of planets (A handful in comparison to the total) out there which have more than 50 previous owners; there aren't a great deal of owners per planet. I'd suspect the average is currently at around two or three (Not counting uncolonised planets or footballs).

To sum up, because I tend to ramble as I think;

Planets per Ship; keep a log of previously successfully invaded planets per each player.

Invaders per Planet; keep a log of previous successful invaders per planet.

The former will add, I reckon, around 50 planet names per player.

The latter will add, I reckon, around 3 player names per planet.

I'm in favour of the latter; I think it takes up less space and also it would mean that any ship re-naming 'problems' would be minor, especially as someone would be spending the GP on a renaming device every time they wished to get a green from the same planet.

The log could begin at the start of the update, with no need for backtracking. *Within a week, anybody who uses footballs will have discovered they no longer work and would stop invading. The logs for this would increase in size very slowly. I'm sure Dan can afford a $200 1TB SSD to hold all that data for the next six decades or so.

* - The logs are currently 'one week' long and, as such, this data would exist regardless of circumstances.

i like the thought of a football planet getting re-named once a week before it goes circling back around ;)

- Dan makes more money from renaming
- footballers have to keep track of the ever-changing planet name ... did i invade football1 or football2 this week ?? or was it kickball15 ?

Actually, on the suggestion I favoured, you'd have to rename your ship to re-do footballs presuming Dan didn't code the game to keep track of that too. That would completely f*** legion coherence.

After a while though you would stop getting Green Badges if you didn't get one from invading the same planet twice. There are only so many decent planets out there, I don't see a lv 1,000 wanting to find more new planets to invade when they need even more green badges for putting a locus on a planet, not when they have to start taking junk planets just to get a new green badge.

Don't know any 1ks, just pointing out if they didn't use these football planets to get the badges they already had, and then when Dan releases new Green Badge items they could end up with this problem. If you do know, how many green badges do they have or plan on getting to get the Green Badge items to place on planets?

What would happen then if Dan puts out another Green Badge ship mod, he could do something like that. I doubt he will, but who knows when green badges might be popular again. Not that it would hurt me too much being Taltherian, if I had to take a new planet each time for a Green Badge, but if I change out of that I would be a bit less happy about being forced to take new planets just to get badges. This would also have to be done to the Bane Ally as well if he did that or it wouldn't be fair for the badge hunting people would it?

how does being talth help you with stealing planets?? thats pretty much 100% irrelevant.



and my standard argument here is this

lets say a rank 100 has the bane ally, and hes ranking NOT AT ALL, playing football... in 100 days (110 if you count the 10% failure rate), he will have a maxed bane ally, at NO cost at all, he didnt have to rank up to gain planet slots, or increase his invasion costs.

player 2, who plays legitimately, NEEDS to gain FOUR HUNDRED RANKS!!! and all the associated costs of those extra planet slots, and because im not just trying for gimmie planets, (because as far as i know, im leading the bane rank race to 100) im only at rank 85 with it.
and i havent missed too many days of planet stealing since getting the ally.

after its all said and done, player 1 (cheater) gets the rewards with no costs.
player 2 (me) is playing correctly, and EARNING my reward.

as a side note im at 7/10 for rebellious recapture. been having terrible luck with planet invasion events.. a lot of enslavements and devastated landscapes though.

Planets Occupied 185
Planets Captured 235
i abandoned a lot of mistake planets when i first spent cash, and ive abandoned atleast 15 more being kind to the legion.

stop being lazy, EARN THOSE BADGES!!

hmmm, lets ask the other rank 1Ks though.. do you want to steal KICKBALL for 30 billion... OR, a maxed arti world for 30 billion... hmmm.. let me think about this.. i REALLY need that easy badge.. quit being obtuse and think about things first.
NO ONE is going to ever scan ALL the good planets, EVER, and IF they even get close, guess what.. DAN ADDS MORE!!!!!!! and not like 5 or 10 or 100, he added something like 2 MILLION last time he added some.. i can imagine the next addition will be atleast as hefty.

I consider Taltherian better and happy that I unlocked it because I can turn a decent planet into a better planet resource wise, if I steal junk planets for artifacts on them, I don't npc as much as everyone else, and I don't spend GP to get rid of planets.

I will admit your point, however I wouldn't call the first person a cheater, they are playing as much in the game as the SSB ships with tons of TOs and as few decks as they can have, both are not liked by some people and want to be stopped or nerfed, but both are playing within the confines of the game. Different people call them smart people by finding loop holes in the game.

its an exploit that needs to be fixed and nothing more. dan has said he wants to fix the footballing issue, because it goes against the spirit of the game.
QUIT CHEATING and EARN THOSE BADGES.
i will admit i havent stolen all my planets at a 20% chance, but 80% of the planets ive stolen, ive had to fight to keep, it really churns up some action if im lucky.

That football would have to be recently scanned each time that level 100 invades it.
