When you steal the location of a planet from someone, it should be guaranteed to be a planet they own.
The message already states you steal the location of one of there planets so that's what it should do.

why would i want to preclude the chance of hacking someone 150 ranks ahead of me, who has higher scan and can scan the nicer planets of those even higher ranked ? i may not be able to take the planet ... but someone in my legion might ...

-1 because it could be abused against lower ranks (1. they generally have less scan and cloak than higher ranks, which means they can be more easily crit-hacked; 2. they occupy much fewer planets, meaning that there's a much larger chance of the low rank losing a valuable planet).
If the "stealing location of a planet that they must own" thing can apply only to players within badging range, however, I think this would be a very interesting idea.

-1 No. I will probably just quit the game if this happened. I work too hard to keep my planet list full and the planets I own safe. The planets I do own are very nice on purpose, to take up less planet slots.
Not to mention how much rage there will be from the rank 2200 guys who start losing their planets and they can't replace them quick enough.

something needs to be done.. the way it is now, ive only ever hacked one reasonable planet, a massive rich arti... still havent stolen it and its been on scan for months. everything else has just been AWFUL

I have a suggestion. What about you automatically hack a planet that SOMEONE owns? So basically, you would steal the location of an enemy owned planet that's in the data-base of the guy. Any thoughts?

I haven't gotten even one good planet from hacking, because I simply don't hack much. Now you will most likely have hacked more than I did, but if it's just a few hundred times, what you just said won't mean much. IMO, one decent planet in 2000 hacks would be more than sufficient, as I'd gladly pay 10k energy for a decent planet. Granted much of hacking have more to do with TM than energy but still...

not quite 2K, but yeah, ive done a few. and im almost never multi hacking. only certain folks get that sort of attention. i DID critically hack one person 3 or 4 times in about 40-50 hacks... NADA for good ones. not even worth alerting for a rank 2 player.
the enemy owned planet is a bit better of an idea..

how about an amendment to the coding. gives you the location of something thats between rich and x5. doesnt have to be their planet, but anyone that they have scanned that fits into that category. ofcourse dependent on them having such a planet on scan, otherwise broaden the gap.
