i think both football metaphors apply ... yes, there is kickball, but there are also lateral passes and fake kicks, etc. in gridiron. it's just that the gridiron metaphor had more in relation to the medal concepts ... a hail mary where you do not know who will get the ball ... but there are plenty of potential receivers. and the deflation works better as a QB sack ... hard to think of a kickball metaphor, unless you go with a red card ejection ... but who wants one of those medals ?

and no, #2 would not work very well unless #1 is also there. both of these are already happening, so we might as well see if there's a way to make it a challenge. it's not like anyone is running short of flux probe - tracers.

ideally, Dan would make the medal point reward for #2 to be nearly double the medal point reward for #1. so you use the elements of greed to potentially squelch the behaviour that Dan does not appreciate ... but still give folks an incentive to keep producing footballs in the faint hope of a return

You do know that flux does not remove active alert right?
So here is what the ppl can do:
oh look, the planet reached 40 count! Let it sit 7 days, then Bob in legion B can alert it and Charles(current owner) in legion C will flux it for the medal. Then all of us in Legion B(except Bob) can give it a go to keep it running. Remember to tell Albert of Legion A and Dave of Legion D to alert it as well, so it can get passed around a full round before alert expires.
