As a legion leader, I like to run big planet-hunting scans and disseminate the good ones to my legion. I've got a good planet base for myself, one I've established quite a while ago independently, and I want to be able to provide the same kind of planet base to my legion without the scanning and sifting headaches that I experienced when building up my planet base. The 12-hour limit on alerting planets is a real hindrance in this respect, especially when I've got 20-30 planets to alert to them after a really good scan. I also have fellow legion leaders and experienced legion officers who are eager to share their own scan results with the legion, but they run into the same thing with the 12-hour timer for alerts.
I understand the need for the timer, it keeps people from spamming the news channel with alerts. I concur with existing policy that a timer would be useful, even in our situation, so as to prevent spamming. However, the current timer limit is a hindrance for the leadership in my legion to provide productive planets to legion members who are still developing and learning the game.
I propose that the timer should be shorter for legion leadership:
I propose that a 3-hour timer for planet alerts for legion leaders is a reasonable timer.
I also propose that legion officers should have a 6-hour timer for planet alerts.
I sincerely think that these reduced timers for legion leadership will improve the overall quality of all legions. Lowering the limit timers for legion leaders and officers will allow the legion leadership to provide quality planets to their legion members of all experience levels. Giving legion leadership the ability to alert planets more frequently gives any legion's leadership the ability to improve their legion, a fact I sincerely think applies to legions of any experience and any level members.

Due to certain mission requirements and the alert action, perhaps a better way of accomplishing this would be something like a legion star chart, where loyal members could add and view planets (unoccupied and/or legion owned only).

Something like that could be really resource-intensive though. I like the idea, but one of the best things about GL for me is the ability to play it on the crappy work computers. Then again, why not both?

+1, your brave to suggest this tbh it would help with our legion competitions, being able to alert all 3 planets in a day would be great, and after my legion tour, i have scanned some great planets that i want to share with my legion and will take days if not weeks to share them all out (don't worry, they wernt legion occupied )

i'm pretty sure the 12-hour restriction is to slow down multi-abuse ...

I'll explain a bit in details : 1. You can set all members to officer/leader. So, it is abuseable to maintain a 3-hour or 6-hour alert. 2. Dan already said that he dislike planet trading (oh well, but now it's the way the game is played ). I doubt he'll add something like this that will speed up planet trading (unless now he's accepting it as how the game is played) 3. You should prioritize the easiest planet for your member to acquire OR the most important planet (usually occupied by active player). This game is about patience. -------- As a suggestion, maybe it's better to have an artifact that alert a planet to the legion for 1 hour. Your alert timer must NOT in cooldown, and you need loyalty to use this on enemy planet. This trigger the alert timer for 3 hours.

No, -1 But I have always thought that ship alerts and planet alerts should be different. It would be nice to have one of each during the given 12hr period.
