Here's some rationale to selling: as smaller ships we tend to be desperate for artifact production so we melt a ER VL icy, it seems like a good planet and so we make another. Then later in game you realize how limited the value of those VM 1x planets really are. It is actually pretty strategic to sell your melters now and then buy others later when you actually make better maxed planets that optimize production, just like larger ranks do now. Same argument for the structural energizers. I have seen so many bad planets with either Def mods at 100% or +10's or even mining building energized. Don't be one of those, sell them and get worth now!

Or they can keep the items. Do the smart thing and wait to use them once they've put the work in to make their own MC 22x super-cloaked planets with +24 structures on them.

The 2.5k a MSM goes for and roughly 8K they get out of the 4 Structural Energizers is less than the worth of even one VM 17x arti Oceanic planet planet that they made for themselves without spending a single GP.

Sorry to bomb your thread like that but I felt they needed to be made aware of what those things should ACTUALLY be going for as I find it absolutely baffling that they sell as cheaply as they do.

odd to say sry, but make accusations that I'm interested in somehow cheating someone. The market sets the price, and one reason they are not too costly is that it costs GP to abandon a planet for them to be used on. Another reason is that many people who never spend real money to get mission planets, realize they can gain more production by getting ctp and buying complete planets or investing in less appealing pure production planets. To get the terraformers to build legit planets, it take a fair amount of NPCing and many want to slow rank or at least not rank too fast.

I wasted some of my melters and energizers, and know many people do the same. To deny that is just ignorance. If people can save them, that would be great, but they don't. It is completely legit to sell now if they don't have legit planets to use them on. And buy later like some people like me like to do.

I was criticizing the market, not you, Bleepin. I meant no offense directed at you, and I am truly sorry if it came off that way.

I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones who realized that the short term gain from using the planet change artifacts asap was heavily outweighed by their value when used at a later time under the proper conditions.

[edit] If I had to give a price for what I think MSMs SHOULD be worth I'd say since they are equivalent to 2 QSEs and 2 Terraformers that the price should be closer to 7k CTP. I used 46 CTP to 1 GP as the metric, derived from the common price of 750 CTP to an AP Storage Tower, and 1k CTP per terraformer. But the point is moot as I'd never sell mine.

EDIT: BTW, your valuations are way off. 750 ctp for a storage tower is ridiculous. Plus as evidenced by your valuation of terraformers, anything that has a GP cost, but can be obtained without using GP goes for a lower price than the ctp equivalent of the GP.

Define way off? At the higher end of what they generally go for is ABSOLUTELY correct on the Storage towers and is your only possible problem with the CTP -> GP valuation I used. Also, seeing as in the past few weeks multiple people have sold Terraformers at 1k ctp each I don't believe I am off at all in what they should go for. Even using the lower mid range amount of 650 CTP per storage tower changes the overall valuation equation I used VERY little if at all.

Tell me, if you were selling QSE use on planets how much would you be charging? 2k-2.5k CTP? Or more? I ask because the Auctioned VM RTed planets sell for at least 10k CTP, usually with approximately that as the STARTING bid, discounting the original value of the planet, which in most cases is next to nothing(maybe 200 CTP), with the only work done to them being the use of 164 GP and a little luck with the reality transfuser.

As for why? I think the market is ridiculously undervaluing the item in question.
