Diplomat/ Trader: This member of the legion will retain loyalty upon returning if they leave the legion.
The legion may only have 2 of these at any given time. If the diplomat does not to return to the legion for 2 weeks they lose their loyalty to that legion as well as the diplomat position. Upon returning to the legion they must remain there for 2 weeks before leaving again. A player may only be a diploma/ trader to 1 legion at a time. If the legion decides that the diplomat is not doing their job, then they can wait until they returns and remove them from that position or just wait until the position opens from them losing their position. If the legion removes that member from their position before their 2 week cool down is up the legion must wait an additional 2 weeks before choosing a new one.
This would be a 4th position so the diplomat/ trader could not be a leader or officer.

What would be the purpose of this?

It could also be a trader if you chose to think of it that way. I mostly thought of this because Myrna and many other non top 100 legions lack the ability to bring in new members. If one player could go out 2 weeks at a time and search for new me,bets that don't necessarily know what goes on around or for merges when needing to talk to other leaders more directly.

I would prefer for this to be used for traders... Restricted to 1 or 2 players in the whole legion.

You could call it Ambassador, so the role could be either diplomatic or trade, depending on whatever the legion decided.

Legion Loyalty was not created because of legion bases, legion missions or legion anything. It was created to curb planet trading. Since then, all legion activities have included that same requirement of 7 days. Not only are you guys suggesting something that circumvents that, but there are all kinds of trickledown effects. You can be loyal to 2 different legions simultaneously. Meaning you would count toward 2 Loyalty Bonuses for Base Production, 2 Battlestation buffs, etc. Oh wait, you have to be IN the legion to count for those. I guess the only reason to have this idea is to bypass the reason for 7 days in the first place.

Leaving your legion just for an hour should carry a large consequence.
Or maybe I'll just tour dozens of legions daily and om nom nom some elites.

Ok... still not seeing any usefulness out of this whatsoever besides as a way to dodge the loyalty system.

What would this person do?
-If this is for trading we have FB trading pages and a forum trading post. Any artifacts can be sent directly without leaving the legion.
-If this were for planet trading it makes it even more of a glaringly bad idea.
-If this were for diplomacy you need to learn to use officer comms or FB messages. You don't travel to another legion just for a conversation.
-If this is for recruitment you should not have someone travelling the galaxy trying to abduct other legion's members. There are easier ways to recruit... (Recruitment center, Forum)

So whats the point?

Did I answer enough? Just because you big legions see no point in this doesn't mean there is none sometimes you ned to be considerate of the little guys and not be selfish.

Selfish? How so?

Ok... here is the scenario. Hell froze over and this was implemented. You decide to travel to a small legion who missed your comms and/or did not reply. Since they hardly know how to play you wait around for a full day to be accepted and finally get frustrated and return home. You decide to try your luck with a larger legion so you apply and are admitted promptly. You give your recruitment speech and they tell you to stop trying to poach members right before booting you back out again. But all is well because you still have loyalty.

Becoming a wandering salesman is not the answer to your recruitment problems. Be patient, be active, polish your recruiting thread, get some people sporting your banner. No need to break the loyalty system.

Just because "this wasn't the original idea," doesn't mean you need to ignore glaring faults with an idea. When you work on an idea for the Suggestions Forum, I recommend you refer to this checklist:

1. Is it needed?
2. Will it improve the overall game?
3. How will this affect small legions?
4. How will this affect big legions?
5. How will this affect low ranks?
6. How will this affect high ranks?
7. How will this affect the user interface?
8. Will this affect other features in the game?
9. Can this be exploited?

There are several other questions you can ask, but if you can cover those listed (particularly #9), you're going to be less likely to have people (such as me) squash your idea.

Well Im going to apologize to ravage for being rude, and thank you for future thoughts normally most of these checks run through my mind but this time I just said what I thought without thinking. I do however wish to contribute ideas to the game, and see some form of it implemented.
