I was wondering what's the best amount of scan to find one? I haven't seen one in about 50+ ranks and my scan has increased by a lot since then I was wondering how much scan is a good amount to find them... often if that's possible. Not only that how often would they appear with the said amount?

How many NPCs have you killed in 50+ ranks?

lol @ 200.
I get about 1 troop carrier an hour. I kill somewhere between 1000-1500 npcs an hour. Possibly more but definitely not less.

Thanks for the answers guys, I suppose I should start focusing on NPCing more if I want to see them, and 1:600? that seems... fair. I hope I do come across Carriers more often now that I have this info.

1:600 is roughly the best you you can get. But you need to have no mission NPCs, also higher ranks have fewer other NPCs clogging up the tab.

Technically it doesn't matter how you clear the npcs, via expiration or annihilation. The spawn rate will still be roughly 1:600. The only difference is the amount of time it takes to clear them. Actively killing (as a non-NPCer I'm guessing here) it's an hour or three. Waiting on refresh with tactical remod and 8 slots it would be 13 days or so with minimal slippage.

Get your scan to 231... you'll be pleasantly surprised at the rate you find them.

WOW I didn't realize how lucky I have been- I've seen 2 with only 131 NPC kills. I seem to do well scanning, which is weird considering my luck at, well everything else...
