Whenever you build something on your ship, then decide to get rid of it, you can still get some money back. So I was thinking we could do the same thing with planetary structures.

Basic Structures you get from research can be 'recycled' and sold. We even do this today in real life with our buildings.

Artifact Structures and Mission Structures could give us some ctp as well.

You don't pay upkeep on planet structures, therefore you don't get anything back when you demolish them.

Not sure what upkeep has to do with the suggestion.

Getting 50% back wouldnt be bad.

Its just not that often that you are gonna be trashing structures on your planets. Sure when you update to +10 or +12 you will but the cost of the previous structures are insignificant compared to the upgrades.

Bricking a planet to temp flux is a one time thing.

Its not a bad suggestion just not gonna be all that useful either.

The upkeep comment is pretty much word for word what Dan answered when someone asked about this. At least, that's what I remember.

The difference with modules is that you pay an upkeep. Planets do not have upkeep.

what about a reduced upgrade cost for the next building. although this wouldnt help if you already have the top tier structures built this would help with upgrading.

It'd be nice to get something back, but it's not exactly a game breaker.

As already said, when you upgrade to +12's you're demolishing buildings that cost next to nothing.
I never went further than +4's on my planets in the first few months, and they cost 500k each which is peanuts compared to 600m plus 10 aidonium for the +12's.

The issue of upkeep is a non sequitur.
Nevertheless, my upkeep is only 655m, so I'm making a fair bit of credit anyway.
I'm guessing it's those with high upkeeps that'd like to get something back for demolishing buildings.

But you sometimes need to demolish +12s:
1. for switching to defense stance when it get attacked(but not stolen right away) unless you wanna use a flux(which cost much more and only worth on very good planets)
2. for switching production type: for me specifically, this happens when I work on C plasmas and turn it from research into artifact
3. for making room for artifact structure productions

And also, as the converse of #1, the demolishion of 20 OB...

That said, however, I'm not particularly fond of this suggestion. CR management is part of the game, the only real high cost is high count invasion, there is no need to trivialize every other cost in the game.

Planets don't pay unkeep, remember they are structures not ship modules. When you Sell a module you get credits because you are selling it, whilst demolishing a structure is just knocking it down to save room...
