Why I think GL has turned into a #&$# game

There is no balance. If this was an arcade game it would be reviewed to oblivion. I played almost 4 years and what a waste. Only in this stupid game have I seen geometric growth favor highest players while the crud down there is stuck with linear progress.

My ten cents,
Ban me for telling the truth now
I don't give a flying #&$# ball.

Actually the lower ranked players are at an advantage over us, all of our strategy and planning at their fingertips, higher output bases, and better missions, if they take the initiative they can easily surpass us.

Your attitude is part of why I avoid forum. Too many wise asses.
The other is that top legions are beyond the game envelope
because greed and cowardliness makes them huddle.

This is destroying the game. There are vacant level 6 and level 7 bases.
It means that some put in a lot of effort and said the hell with it.

Many still benefit from illegal gains obtained early on in this game
when the server was vulnerable to deliberate exploit.

Some legions, since they can have an almost perfect score on legion missions grow geometrically, the struggling ones have to face the odds and a more linear process. One would hope that it would be self evident for the interest of the game to take a larger view.

I doubt it's possible.

I'll keep playing and I just want to say : this isn't a community; gamer communities think of the welfare of the game first. I played in private guilds on private servers. The command staff always joined the underdog during a campaign and many didn't mind switching races to balance teams.

The other is that top legions are beyond the game envelope
because greed and cowardliness makes them huddle. Or maybe people of the same ranks play together so they can see the same alerts?

This is destroying the game. There are vacant level 6 and level 7 bases.
It means that some put in a lot of effort and said the hell with it. Some people move on instead of staying loyal to a crappy legion which is sapping their strength and enjoyment of the game

Many still benefit from illegal gains obtained early on in this game
when the server was vulnerable to deliberate exploit. Example?

Some legions, since they can have an almost perfect score on legion missions grow geometrically, the struggling ones have to face the odds and a more linear process. One would hope that it would be self evident for the interest of the game to take a larger view.

So you think passing legion missions is the reason the top legions grow faster?
Wrong. The top legions got there by being more active and maximizing their AP production. Billik is correct it's easier than ever to build a great ship.

I doubt it's possible.

I'll keep playing and I just want to say : this isn't a community; gamer communities think of the welfare of the game first. I played in private guilds on private servers. The command staff always joined the underdog during a campaign and many didn't mind switching races to balance teams. So... you want the top ten legions to disband and get dispersed evenly among the galaxy or something? Most would quit if they couldnt play among their peers.

You seem to be whining alot the higher rank players are the ones at a disadvantage im rather new to the game but ive been able to do alot of research on better ways to build a ship and i have been able to join a high output legion to build my ship even better and faster. It sounds to me like you built your ship poorly and your regreting it

I agree that there is "no balance" in Galaxy Legion. (You know Human Merchant being a worse choice than Talth Excavator.) Not trying to be offensive, snarky, or aggressive, but I believe one of the D&D designers argued (and I am paraphrasing) that he put crappy feats in D&D on purpose to let the players make efficient and inefficient choices. Likewise, Galaxy Legion has efficient and inefficient choices. For my first 15 months or so of play, I made a lot of bad choices (and I even reset in the middle of those 15 months), but since then, I have improved a lot. Early, I did not understand how players who started around the same time were so far ahead of me, but once I gained more experience and skill, my rate of growth improved exponentially.

I am presupposing when you say "highest" and "down there" you are referring to rank. I would argue that the early game (lower ranks) is the time to set yourself up for success (granted, you can start later, which will be more challenging), and yes, improvement will be linear during the early phases of growth (usually due to low Artifact production). Later, (at higher ranks,) growth will be geometric, since if you had worked hard to push your Artifact production, your stats will be growing at an amazing rate. In short, a correlation exists between rank and Artifact production, and Artifact production drives strength. However, I would disagree if you are suggesting that either high rank in and of itself causes exponential growth or low rank in and of itself causes linear growth. (Correlation not being causation and all that stuff.) In short, those who made the better choice of pushing Artifact production early (and I was not one of those) do benefit from superior growth later, while those who did not simply have a lot of work to do to catch up.

On the other hand, if you do mean Artifact production when you say "highest" and "down there," then I would argue that the hard work put into obtaining Artifact production (NPCing, scanning, trading, etc.) is the balancing factor in Galaxy Legion.

Maybe you need to change your playing style and just start over as a lower rank so u can have all of those advantages you're crying about. Hope you have a better day :D

Wrong. Ship growth is exponential as a lower rank, then over time (as you achieve the +12 production mods) ship growth becomes geometric. If anyone's ship is growing at a linear rate they're doing something wrong.

I've been growing linearly for months on end. Doubled my artifact production, but it doesn't seem to help in terms of how many prisoners, brackets, xcharges, etc. I just get more junk artis per pull. I wish I knew what I waa doing wrong so I could fix it.

And to the point of GL being "unbalanced", I tend to agree. Take one of the top minions, look at their stats to see how many planets they have, use probes to see their resource drops, then divide. You'll see ridiculous numbers like 700 AP per planet. PER EFFING PLANET! Let that sink in for a bit. There's no way to even start to catch up with that.

With my understanding of the technical definition of the terms (I have never been a math major), I believe you are right. I was responding in the vernacular way and how I imagined the OP was using the terms rather than the way the field of mathematics utilizes the terms.

Why do people worry about the high rankers and the top ten legions? Worry about what you can do for yourself and your legion only.
So what if they have massive arti pull etc, these ppl have most likely spent 10x the amount of time playing then you and deserve the rewards that come with that effort.
Sounds more likely to me that your base was taken down by a top ten legion or some of your members have left to greener pastures, but thats the game.

Yes, the games seems very unbalanced. Life is unbalanced, they just hired a newbie right out of school making just under my pay, and I've been with the company for 6 years. Here's my options, work myself to a higher pay bracket, complain to my boss he has to give me a raise for fairness or quit.
My legion almost vanished from GL, we had a bunch leave us for a better deal. But we got serious, made some changes and made a comeback to the leader board. Complaining about it being unfair didn't bring any of them back. Hard work, understanding how the game works and constant attention brought us back from near death. I hear a lot of people complain about the higher ranks, the top 10, I try not to focus on them, I try hard to focus on me and mine and try to enjoy the game, which I still love btw. Just my two cents.

I've been in and out of the top 10 throughout the game. there are some legions that are growing quite rapidly. TWH for example has been hoping right up the leaderboard. Good group of people there.

My advice to you, find a legion with people you get along with. The social aspect is the best part of the game. I'm not saying this is a horrible game. When I started, I was playing 6-7 FB games. Now I play only this one and a little bit of another. I love this game for the friends I've made.

I just added my production up(res+art+mining) then divided by the amount of planets i have, and i got 645(if thats the way you were working it out). Im not a minion, nor in EOTS, nor in a top ten legion for that matter(hell im not even in a top 50 legion lol). So im not sure what your saying rings true. Im decent for my rank, but i know of many others, higher and LOWER rank, with much better stats. I have literally hundreds of planets i could abandon for better things. Just gotta keep working at it.

I was talking about artifact production only, not mineral+artifact+research, but OK. 700 Average artifact production per planet. Even if every planet is pure artifact production (no def, cloak, mineral, etc), that's impressive (and quite unbalanced) to say the least.

I definitely disagree with you on that. The time that older players spent building their ships make it impossible for newer players to "Easily" pass them in any shape or form. It's just the way it is, so I just sit back and enjoy the time hanging out with people. :)

Well it's sort of a relative observance, while some may not surpass a few of the guys who've put years of smart playing in, they can surpass the milestones we held ourselves to earlier in the game.

Yep. And not having played for 4+ years also doesn't help. I still have about 8 months before I hit my 3 year medal. I've spent quite a bit of time and money on this game, and there's still no way for me to "surpass" players with a 2 year head start on me.

some of it is honestly some guys have spent wads of cash. Others have hustled in turn. Wolfie aka Fluffy was constantly hustling trades. Mento at one point was doing similar things.

To a certain extent it blows it self out. Players go inactive, those sweet planets get found if they didn't pass them out.

I'll confess to a certain amount of confusion though. MY hourly AP is roughly 268 per planet. That's pretty good I think. Short of having all planets massive or better, MULTI mega or better i'm not sure how you could get close to 700 per.

Doesn't mean they are cheating either folks - see the 1st line - WADS.
