 Bringing up Custom Ships Again...

all the models are pre-made. can we please put them together like a puzzel into a ship design of our choice? i made a quick example of how this could work.

it has stryll wings, a stryll rudder, a konqul body, a shadin shockfighter cockpit, and rsl cannons mounted. we would just piece em together, and that would be our ship image. if we wanted we could go streight racial ships, and we could unlock pieces from npcs we kill. so people who like their current models could remain the same, and those who dont could change it. either that or different models based on ship size. i would be rather disappointed to see 500 of exactly the same ship except different sizes going to war in space with 500 other exactly the same ships...

Woah.....that is perhaps the coolest looking GL ship I've ever seen! I would love to have a ship that I could customize in a similar fashion.

i like the idea for unlocking parts from defeated ships, but it would have to reward some for completed mission npcs already. for example i already completed the mission that gives the stryll deep tracker, so hopefully i could still ad the wings to my ship. I hope dan gets this on the board after the legion bases.

lol that would be sweet! but i would have to blend the pieces so they fit together better. i did that one in 15 minutes, id like to spend at least 45 making it look good if it gets implemented

Looks like Sharkboy got assimilated by the Borg....

J/K, looks great for minimal work, better than I could do... I think pimping out our ships (while a nice idea) would be pretty code-intensive. Some other fixes and additions I would like to see take priority, but I wouldn't mind seeing at least different ships for each size-class.

there could be a set number of options for each part, and then an arrow system to pick what you want. ie

Cockpit
Body
Wings
Rudder
Details

you would select from each section what you would like for each section, maybe missions could unlock extra detail slots. but this would not be code intensive at all if this is a flash addition, and then the final pngs are listed and applied to the players ship avatar. its like playing any dress up game on the web, the only difference is instead of a character its a ship.

Back to the ship part assignment, the ship part is given a numerical value, and then the value is listed for each part to cycle and then when selected the code would read say cockpit=1, wings=5 body=9 etc. The facebook game 'Epic Monsters' uses this same tactic if you guys wanna see what im talking about.
