Exactly. Thank goodness somebody gets it.

Bases with a large number of active players need to drop curly fries to make all that clicking worth it. There is no question.

now this is EXACTLY OPPOSITE to your original point. if you had started with 'bases that are actively defended should drop better rewards', you would have got much less opposition. but instead you started from the 'how can i screw other players' side of the suggestion.

Draxxis' post caused me to evolve my original position.

Because as much as I dislike glass bases, it's also true that the massive amount of energy one has to pour into well-defended bases is simply not worth a 20% chance at a crystal/rift trap and some silver badges -- especially when there is so much easier fare available atm. (see: cheeseburger economics)

So if the majority of players aren't willing to give up their precious tap tap tap treat system of basing, the best alternative to fostering the spirit of smashing other people's bases and making them sad would be to have better rewards for people who attack active, difficult bases -- rewards not available to tappers -- and a loss of production (or something) for defenders that actually hurts a little.

Personally, i say play the game. Team up, use energy and drop bases that do not want to be dropped. This conserving tap tap tap game play sucks in my opinion. You have guns. Use them.

Rewards from basing are ridiculously dissapointing unless it is a glass or easy base. I see no point in wasting thousands of energy and throwing out my wrist for a minimal chance at getting a crystal.

One solution would be to award better rewards to the top 3-5 damagers instead of just one more silver badge.

I'm happy with glass bases, but think that the rewards need to be more proportional to the effort when it comes to 8's+... Nothing quite like getting a station after putting in a couple of million damage on a base, after all!

One thought, what is the reward was solely based on % contribution? So for example for a level 5 base instead of the top 10 people get 5 badages, the next ten get 4 ect, compine it all together and make it % of total damage = reward? and yes also apply this to base crates, with fixed minium damage % inorder to even get 1 crate/badage. this makes tap and go no longer an issue and still allows glass bases to be a thing. I realize with repairing this means some people may be at over 100% of the bases total hull/sheilds however with baseing rewards being so low anyways, I don't think this is a huge problem really.

Gotta admit...not much scorns my hide as much as when I do well over a million or more on a base and get a dang station....then watch someone that just love tapped it get a crystal...yup...I'd say the crates should be more towards the contribution of getting them instead of so random.

getting rid of glass base's i have mix feelings for this i scream yes yes yes but at the same time i feel no always nice to have a glass once and awhile for the lower ranks to be able to kill off a base once and awhile.

how about purging any dead base that is level 5 and under if 1 active player is in legion then it stays but if not active it gets destroyed.

have it that base has to be dead for example 1 year with no active member in the legion and trainee's do not count as active

This I think would be great. More than half of the bases I scan are level 5's and I doubt any legion with a level 7 base or higher locks those; especially if they are abandonned.

Not only would it save reds; it would speed up scanning.

I couldnt careless about the reward. Killing bases is a hoot. Especially big bases. There was a time all of us WISH we had a huge ship to bang a base. Now everyone complains. The clicking, the rewards, too much energy......blah blah blah
Killing stuff is fun. Only thing i like about the game.damage caps, chicken poop slow ranking ssbs, halcs, hacks....bah you can keep it.

Just enjoy mindless killing because its better than mindless killing in real life.

Yes i agree with Pongo and Koolaid that the game has been getting too lazy. We see it everywhere. I remembered back in the days where just about everyone got involved with bases, now it's tap this, tap that.

I agree that all inactive bases should be removed lvl 5 and lower, but i also agree that some base rewards for lvl 8+ bases need to change. The actives who are constantly contributing to their legion deserve to be rewarded while the tappers don't get anything unless they actively join in and earn their rewards.

A glass base every now and then is fine i think, but i remember with me personally that when i started out i'd hit bases with my shitty low energy bar, and use it all up on a base to try and cement the highest spot i could.

When Koolaid said you first need to get uncomfortable to get comfortable, i've said that before to a few people. It's just the way it is. It's how older legions and even some newer legions have achieved thing's that most other legions don't because they put in the hard back breaking labour. The 110% effort to help push their legion forward. What's the point in being in this game if you're just going to sit there day in day out collect and tap. That's what Farmville and it's many other copycat versions like many other FB games are for.

Bases that are inactive i think should be given 3months and then they go poof! It'll hopefully make all these low ranks think twice before making a legion thinking they can go all the way, only to lose it because they weren't active enough, and will hopefully mean more players will join bigger legions.

Less reward for glass bases seems like a fair compromise but not to eliminate glass bases completely wouldn't be a good idea just my opinion.

Alternatively what is rewards were based on raw numeric damage instead of "spots+ raid" so hit 50,000 damage = get X prize hit 100,000 = Y prize hit 1,000,000 get Z prize ect.

Make Enu crystals dropping only from bases hold by active legions, solved!
But, as we miss extra rewards for lvl 8+ bases, would be nice to have some upgrade, e.g. just for flavor:
- Adumbrate Stronghold (double the Adumb station stats)
- x relic badges (if the legion has running Mission Control Center)
- Fold generator
- TD/RT/QSE @ 5% chance from lvl 9+ bases

well, would be nice to have something similar... but ...

From my perspective, getting rid of glass bases is just a bad, bad idea. No one seems to think this through, but experience gained by extreme basing is really wasted experience you could have better invested in PVPing or NPCing and makes you rank faster than you should. Crank out 10M+ in damage on a bigger base and see how many times most of us have to rank doing that...and all for the same rewards you get from glass. No thanks. Glass bases, per se, are the best energy/experience investment for the rewards gained.

Now, the change that should have been made long ago was to keep raising the minimum base level scanned as your base kept growing. For instance, no one wants to waste a bunch of reds flipping through a list of dead level 4 bases when your base is at say level 9. No level 9 base is probably ever gonna lock a 4 except by accident or something. Most won't even lock 5s, so seeing all those dead 4s and 5s is just a waste of hard earned red badges.

And, yes, as stated earlier, the number of glass 7s has been growing. It is true that the Eye of the Universe used to be a special find, but now we find many more due to legion death, legion consolidations, etc. But that's just a symptom of a different, probably larger problem in the GL universe, that won't be solved by just hiding them. I have the same problem with my battle tab. The same set of ships will cycle around way too fast now. When I'm on a PVP run, if I trip someone's halc, they'll usually be back well before the halc even expires now (not a bad thing from a PVP perspective since a good percentage will not have reset the halc yet, but a symptom of just too few non-disabled players in my badge range).

Finally, in the wake of the Ni vs EOTS battle awhile back, the atmosphere for battles against the tougher higher level bases has chilled. Knowing that someone will share the damage list with EOTS (hmm, why would anyone do that?) and that EOTS will lead an attack in the forums to get you banned if you do 20M+ damage against them in say 4.5 hours and that Dan will actually ban those players apparently based on such a weak argument alone has left fewer of the serious base chasers willing to do massive damage against higher level bases out of concern for similar shenanigans now that it's been proven they can actually work. Why risk getting banned over something you can get for practically nothing? Not to mention that the experience you gain doing 20M+ damage to a base is just a waste from a strategic point of view -- particularly if you're still below rank 2200 with plenty of good NPC and PVP opportunities still available.
