 Lock value on Elite and Boss NPCs - wrong?

I am assuming that if you get a 'lock' symbol while fighting a shared elite or boss, that the lock symbol means 'you are guaranteed a prize'.

Given that, the percentage at which you get the symbol is wrong.

For example: A Lazuli Refinery with 3 prizes - you lock in at 34%. 34% is certainly just over 1/3 the total damage, and so yes, you WILL get a prize... but it is not the MINIMUM damage you need to do to get a prize.

That would be 26%.

Why? Because you want to divide the total hull and shield by FOUR, not three. You are not competing against anyone if only three people attack. You are, if four attack because one person is not getting a prize.

at 26%, it is mathematically impossible for THREE other players to exceed you.

100% - 26% = 74% 74% / 3 = 24.67%

Even if three players collaborated to beat you, they couldn't each get more damage done than you. At 26% you are secure. Actually, at 25% + 1 point of damage you are secure, but I'm going with the percent value only here.

Yeah, I mentioned that in my very first post on here : P

You are correct, but I don't know if they'd change it. Some people were concerned that if it locked at that point people wouldn't finish it off.

You are right on the math... although personally, I prefer it this way. Makes it easier to divide the workload evenly at a glance.

i knew this a while back when i first started eliteing. i think you get the lock not just because your gona get somthing but you did you part in damaging it fairly.

There is a reason the lock value is that way.. if you do 34% on a 3 reward boss you have already gone above and beyond what you need to do in damage that's why you get a lock. Actually if you do 33% even without the lock you a/are also assured of a reward.. there is no way of kicking you out of the reward.

Yeah, even if you do 25% you can't be kicked out, that's what the thread is about; you didn't really give a reason though.

Divide evenly the lck value is 33.333333... percent. If you go beyond that the game shows you the icon so that you are assurex that you did enough damage.. yup 25% will not get you kicked on. 3 reward boss but you need someone to do more damage.

It is technically for all bosses, 100% / (npc max slots + 1). I refer to this as a soft lock.

The lock value only shows the value one must obtain if the amount must be divided equally by maximum number of those who will get awarded. Otherwise, 1% is sufficient enough if somebody else did 98% already.

In short, the lock value is not the required value to obtain the reward for a shared NPC.

i regard the lock value as the gentlemans agreement to share the workload.
having said this, i would expect guys with a lot more energy than i have could do more damage for the equivalent effort
