That is kind of a cool idea, I sold my psionic thingy once I was able to build plasma cannons... I kind of miss it's orange pointiness.

the auto-equip is not a bug. it's a fail-safe against the module taking up cargo space at thousands of credits upkeep (and no effect since it is not equipped).
