i dont know if this has anything to do with the server but over the last two days i got 4 extra npc's in my tab, with a total of 8, im only supposed to have four. this has happened twice, and i think it is unfair if i randommly get 4 extra npc's

What missions you doing? Some put them in the battle tab..

Im not doing any missions that have a battle at the end, i dont do that much missions, i am an npc fighter

This has happened to me too before now, although not recently. It's just a random glitch. There's nothing to worry about; when you kill the "extra" NPC, the slots disappear.

Just so you know though, it's possible to have more slots than four. Completing certain missions gives you additional NPC slots. I haven't yet done them myself, but I *think* the wiki says it's a mission from the Lazuli mission chain that gives you the extra slots.
