Hey just thought it would be kind of a cool idea to include religions that the species could use. for example.
Universalism: A belief that everything in the universe is connected and that we all should be brought together. Effects: Greater chance to find planets, lesser chance to find good NPCs
Or
Xenophobia: A Belief that your race is the Great Race and that its your Galactic duty to wipe out the rest of the races. Effects: Greater chance to find Enemies not of your race, Less Chance of finding prime planets.
Obviously some races wouldnt be able to be some of these religions and the Effects are all up to Dan the creator, but its just a base point.
Feel free to edit or add anything you want. i mean its just a starting point of an idea

those are more philosophies than religions. religions has already been suggested, and generally agreed that its too sensitive an issue to be put into a game like this. but i like the philosophies idea. im definitly gonna be a blue supremicist!

oh, well i just started reading these and ive only got to page 3 so im probly not gonna go to far into it. but yea philosophies def work. i didnt mean the religions to be like Christianity or anything like that, i just think that other races would have religions different from our own. but i digress.
If they want i could think of some more ideas. and anyone should feel free to add any of theirs

This would be cool. I would stick to philosophies, and try not to run them into religions. Although, races sort of already have philosophies.
Sillixx-Trade a lot.
Mylarai-Make lots of money via mining, and being slightly dishonoist!
Vygoid-Strength through knowledge
Aerlen-Avoid ugly situations
Inergon-gimme energy!
Humans-Learn and adapt
Taltherian-Build cities
Zolazin-Don't let em see ya.
Drannik-Pwn NPC noobs!
Lazuli-I haz tougher hulls than you.
Genetarr-I iz in your head messin' with your thoughts!
Konqul-KILL THEM ALL!!!! (pew, pew, pew)

true, very true, but i think that there should be kinda like different view they can have. like obviously, just like every human as an individual wont have the same ideals the aliens wont either. i mean some would view everyone as connected beings (in some of the races at least) and just as some races can have certain jobs, some races could only have certain philosophies

heres a list of philosophies that i think would be good for the game if it comes about.
Universalism: A belief that everything in the universe is connected and that we all should be brought together. Effects: Greater chance to find planets, lesser chance to find good NPCs
Xenophobia: A Belief that your race is the Great Race and that its your Galactic duty to wipe out the rest of the races. Effects: Greater chance to find Enemies not of your race, Less Chance of finding good planets.
Militaryism: The Belief that you should leave the weak to colonize and make the planet ready for life, then take over Effects: Less Cost to Invade an enemy planet, Colonization cost goes up.
Colonization: The Belief of setting up bases for your species to thrive on. Effects: Colonization cost goes down, Higher Invasion cost
Isolationist: The Belief that Technology will keep you hidden from the universe Effects: Cloak/Scanning Mods are halved in size, Combat Mods have half of the original size value added.
Dominative: The Belief that if they have what you want you take it. Effects: Combat mod size are halfed, Cloak/Scanning mods have half ot the original size value added.
Inovative: The Belief that if you can adapt quick enough you will survive. Effects: Extra Artifacts/Research at the cost of mining.
Collective: The Belief that if its shiny and will fetch a good price, you collect it. Effects: Extra Mining at the cost of Artifacts/Research.
Feel Free to play around a bit, their just some starting ideas.

Can it have a dark side and a light side too? Quote: Xenophobia: A Belief that your race is the Great Race and that its your Galactic duty to wipe out the rest of the races. Effects: Greater chance to find Enemies not of your race, Less Chance of finding good planets. (imperial march plays again) Quote: Collective: The Belief that if its shiny and will fetch a good price, you collect it. Effects: Extra Mining at the cost of Artifacts/Research. Reminds me of people in robes with their face covered. All in all, a good plan to add to customization. +1

i like the idea so far, but im not sure why xenophobes have a lesser chance of finding good planets. if its pvp oriented, shouldnt they be more likely to show up on their races' battle tab as their philosophy penalty?
overall tho i think youve really got some good ideas. i'll try to think if theres anything i can add.

well thats a good point, i was kind of going with a way to counter react the Universalism, my reasoning is that Universalism, finding these planets to bond with more of the universe and to bring them together, where ass finding enemies in the battle tab wouldnt be as important. and that Xenophobia was more about finding other races and having them in your battle tab to "destroy" (disable, raid, exc...) them, where as good free planets wouldnt be as big of a priority. i mean obviously it'll need some work, but at the time the reasoning was sound.

just thought of two new philosophies.
the first 2 names are the same just with dif names/description. Reckless: the Belief that the best defensive is the best offensive. Insane: Lack of mental capacity to stay alive as long as you kill the other guy first. Effects: bonus to attack on enemy ships/planets, decrease in combat defense of any kind.
Cautious: you want to stay alive as much as you want to win. By the Book: you listen to your military handbook as much as possible. Effects:Bonus to combat Defense, decrease in attack.
the reason i added two names to these two is so that way different races can have these 2 philosophies.
