This planet should not be a mission. Very Rare! Maybe only one in the entire game. It should throw off the balance of the game (ie be a massive gift from DAN to the player that has the planet). No RP/AP but rather actual discoveries or artifacts during your 'harvest'.

Research should not be in RP but discoveries like the Collective Theory Lab. Only each time you discover things. Most of the time you'll just discover something on the Research Tree (maybe you already have researched it, maybe not). Sometimes you make a discovery that you can share in the Collective Theory Lab. Sometimes you reactivate storage data which must be brought back to the Collective Theory Lab to be decoded: mostly star charts which would suddenly provide everyone in the legion a planet chart at the legion base. Rarely new methods of primary research which leads to your legion having a brand new research tree branch which needs to be performed within the Collective Theory Lab and it's unlikely another legion has it. Regarding star charts - naturally the vast majority of the planets will be common and the rarest of rare planets shouldn't be in the database because naturally the ship owners would have wanted to keep those excellent planets hidden. These star charts should really help players get planets that are rich and large.

Mining should be at MAX in the rare ship building material (and none of the common material because after all it's ships hull's that have already been refined by someone else). Think Kurenite, Aidonium, Complex Tech Parts. Rather than traditional mining you would be cutting up the ships and refining the parts for your cargo hold.

Artifacts should be at beyond MAX of the rarest of rare artifacts. Rather than AP's you get artifacts that are not accessible in another way. These artifacts can be shared and since they come from ships they improve ships. Ideally brand new ones that no one has ever seen and they don't come as AP's but as actual artifacts into your cargo hold. Naturally don't include scanning parts because we don't want anyone going over a maximum scan of 10,000.

In order to obtain these resources you have to leave crew behind! Unfortunately these crew members are on their own and should be a mix since their is a small chance that someone will discover this planet while your crew is left behind and you could lose them in a take over fight. This is how it works: You need to leave at least 50% of your crew members behind to collect the goods. They must be left for the time of the daily reward (a little less than 24 hours). Your ship must return to the planet and guard it for 2 hours and the shipment will max out your cargo hold - anything left behind will be the mineral Kurenite. This would incentivize legions to cooperate by taking on the entire cargo of so the player occupying the planets cargo hold is empty. After 2 shipments you must share the planet and can never return! Your crew members don't like this place (it's like a grave yard) and they refuse to go back. This way this planet makes the rounds and after everyone in the legion has occupied the planet (It'll take close to a half a year) it could be sold to another legion. Of course their is trust! Maybe the person who is occupying the planet leaves the legion for another legion.

This could really help a legion jump in the rankings. Or if the Dysonsians get a hold of this planet it'll just put them further ahead of everyone but thats a chance one would have to take.
Imagine:
skipping several levels of the research tree
getting more minerals than you know what to do with and having more credits than you'll need for the next 10,50,100 ranks. (believe me one day you think you'll never need more credits and then after 30-60 ranks you don't have enough for daily upkeep).
getting artifacts that no one else has. Examples ships weapons, defense, cloaks, decks, cargo space, energy and devices. One rare artifact I would like to see is the DR WHO BLUE TELEPHONE BOX which gives unlimited space for you ship both decks and cargo. Only one exists in the game and returns if the player stops playing.

So Dan doesn't have to think to hard just take all the artifact ideas in the forum and put them on the planet. Thus very limited numbers of these artifacts would get out and Dan could see what happens and how they effect game play.

I give credit to devinsimps who created the thread Bone Planet for getting my mind started on this crazy idea. This post is subject to future editing based upon comments and lack of good writing (I failed English writing twice during school).

I know that. But not everyone remembers her name sexy or Tardis.

No your planet idea is very different than mine! If you cannot see the difference their is nothing I can say. You suggest mission based. I suggest one single planet. You suggest normal AP/RP/Minerials I suggest difference. I removed my comment from your thread because I thought their is a difference.

Maybe both these threads will die and then their is no reason for Dan to even look at them. Or maybe one of them will generate lots of comments and a reason for Dan to read the suggestion.

Also my idea is very limited so it would not throw out the entire game balance. It probable wouldn't even be as important as a newbie finding a naturally occurring Dyson Planet. I have one at 45X and let me tell you it's completely changed the way I'm playing this game.

Again good ideas get commented on and Dan takes a look. Bad ideas just fall off because no one comments. It would appear this isn't an idea people are interested in so let it fall.
