Well since this game is a culmination of teams as well as growth,,,, Me and some friends got to thinking,,, why not have a race be able to adapt and grow into other professions and be able to multitask!

For Instance.....

how bout Konquil Fixer Builder ?

there are many I could put but the idea would be maybe to have a mission chain that would allow a certain race to become more diversified as they learn and gleen off of others in the galaxy . I will leave this simple for now to hear others thoughts :)

Are you saying a 2nd profession? One that you would need to unlock or something?

It could be fun and game breaking depending on what is what.

Yes,,, maybe having a mission chain to unlock a 2nd profession, to where you are now becoming more diversified

I'm all for this one ..

I feel like I've been forced to be a builder so I can pay my upkeep and save a little more for planet colonizations etc ...

Right now I chose to be a Vygoid Builder but obviously it would be really nice to add one more.

Everyone wants or needs more research so a lot of people pick Vygoid.
Before I was forced to be a builder I was a spy but I think if I had the chance I might be a Vygoid Fixer Builder.

It would also be nice to change to Konquel fixer too .. that would be good build for pvp and for npc kills.

Anyways Vamp up there gave a good example of how or why it could be implemented.

It's a plus for the players who have researched everything or almost everything so they can add more modules if they pick builder and be able to pick something else that they / we haven't been able to pick in a long time.

It's also a plus for Dan and company to make a chain mission because of the energy cost lol.

Just throwing that in there Dan ! ;)

It would have to be handled very carefully to not be game breaking. Maybe a set of missions that unlock similar professions that grant 1/2 the benefit of the main profession. Thus you could be a Vygoid Builder Physicist and get the 50% upkeep reduction of builder, and a 15% bonus to shielding from the 2nd profession Physicist.

You could actually have a set of missions, which unlocks each potential 2nd profession and make the choice ones later (builder for example).

the last thread to suggest this kinda thing suggested we get points to put into professions, and we could choose how we wanted to spend them, being either a jack of all trades, or being a specialist. and everything inbetween. you would get more points every so many ranks, and i guess after an infinite amount of ranks you can potentially max every profession. although this sounds 'game breaking' its not. no profession is really that great, the most it would do is give you a boost to your mining, ap, shields, hull, upkeep, population, and scan, cloak, and 'hacking' and 'raiding'. and that would take close to (if i remember the scale right) 5000 or so ranks to acheive.

Doesn't sound bad but what about the guys like me that are ranked 750 plus or even anyone ranked over 1 ?

It would have to be retroactive so all ranks could go back and pick.

It would give people the drive and incentive to want to rank more. Personally I stopped using Neural interfaces so I won't rank too fast.
I've already passed all of the NPC's that we all still need at any rank and I don't want to pass the ones I can attack now.

Not only that but getting raided or hacked from a lower ranked player is hardly a reason to want to rank up.
Higher ranked players lose out big time here as we all know at any rank who pvp's.

So I guess it would be worth it to want to rank up so we could get the benefits listed above.

It wouldn't make the game unbalanced to the guys at the same ranks since we all would be in the same boat.

i think it was everyone gets 10 profession points at the start, andthen another 1 or 2 every 5 levels or something like that. it would be retroactive, cause your rank is a set number.

+1 sorta like this idea i had that never saw the light of day like this only i said that the second proffession would give you only half the bonus that it normally would (saying its a secondary proffession its not as good as the main one)
