When you collect artifacts, you get a random one that costs less than what you have stored. The cheapest artifacts cost 250 points, so you need at least that much to get an artifact.

yes, but I would wait at least a full 24 hours at your level before cashing it in the 600 you can get per day opens a few other ones that could be handy.

Though better your artifact income, faster you can get better artifacts.

Edit: this chart should help:

dont really bother with artifacts though at that early of a level. theyre THE MOST important resource to have later in the game, then mining, then research. but at your level you might want to focus on research. if you can get a legion leader to send you one kurenite, you dont have to colonize any mining planets for a while. try to get a well rounded planetary production as you go, but for the way the game is set up, research is the most important thing till you get to level 50. then go 50% research, 25% artifact and mining. then once you hit 200 focus more on mining. should be 35% mining, 35% artifact, 30% research. then after you get all the research you need, dont colonize any more research planets. i have found that after you hit 4500 research per hour, you dont need to colonize any more. its all about artifacts and minerals at that point. then once you get all the modules in existence on your ship, you dont need any more mining, and you go 100% artifact until you cant afford to colonize anymore.

I completely agree with Vekno on not needing more than 4.5k research, that's all I need, it gets the job done just fine. anymore and I'll reach my cap way too fast.

yeah i've been concentrating alot on the research like i've been hiring alot of scientists and stuff to increase my research points but i was just wondering how the artifacts worked now i know ^^ but you gave me really good tips i'll keep track of them :) thanks alot!

you never want to put rank points into scientists. i have over 700 scientists, and never put one rank point in them... only put rank points in decks, engineers, or tac officers. everything else can be gained through artifacts rather easily. once you have all the deck space you need you may consider putting some into helmsmen, but really only put rank points into engineers, tac officers, or decks. maybe cargo until it hits 100, but other than that never for that. higher ranks literally have thousands of cargo. they say once you hit 30k you should start saving em for ct lab stuff...

ahh :S alright :P well so far i got 53 research points per hour going on level 10 and i got 60 cargo 90 engineers 21 tactical officers 23 helmsmen 49 scientists

14/23 space <---- i realised that i have to upgrade this dramatically

Rank points are precious, use them only on decks/space (NOT CARGO).. i'm sure you will learn later on.

its just as you get close to maxing what modules you can get from research that adding engineers and other non android artifacts become a truly good idea. Yes new extra/special modules are being added all the time. But the base ones do matter.

Even when small a good artifact production can help, though it is not #1 one the list. I think I have taken 70% of my planets as artifact at this point. Though my best is a mining planet. Given that it produces about 1/5th my ore each hour (that is is about 1.6k at rank 261).

Keeping and try and find a legion that will grow with you. that will be the hardest part. Well till you do find one.

I have a legion with me we are 50 active members and i get 100% bonus points on my planets but now i found a planet it's classified rare..a metallic planet very large and extremely rich on mining and extremely abundant of research which should i go for? 100% research? 50/50 or 75% mining and 25% research?

if it's not occupied go for it. if it is, see how strong they and their legion is compared to you and your legion.

always max out the best resource a planet has. IF you have special structures from the draw put them on, but only if it has extra space. if the planet is in ext rich mining, and ext abundant research load it up with as much mining as possible. if you find yourself with an extra one or two space, and its already defended, then put up a couple spy uplinks, or maybe an interrogation stronghold once you get to a certain level.

btw, dont bother defending your planets till you at least get planetary shields or singularity minefields. anything else is just too easy to take if a higher level finds it. right now i can take planets with 3000 combined defense with 90% probability.
