Hi,

I attacked a npc the npc had

10 attack
10 defense
40 Hull
20 Sheild


I have

23 attack
13 defense
70 Hull
40 Sheilds


How am I loseing this fight? I hit him and he goes down like 5 sheilds then wacks me for upwards of 20 what gives?

It might be critical hits, if it just happens once in a while. If it happens regularly, then you must have a higher damage cap. An NPC's damage cap is 2.5*its rank, your damage cap is (your rank+19)/2 or decks/2, whichever is higher. The damage equation compares attack and defense to see what percentage of your damage cap they do, so increasing your damage cap increases the damage you take, so you need to keep your defense up with your decks if you want to reduce damage.
