simple idea, let us guard our base like a planet, it might make some of these fights a little more challenging, maybe you can only guard after the base is targeted?

I do like this idea, it would also mean you need to pick what to guard. What is worth more at the time.

-1 nobody would be able to beat a base and then it would just be retarded

jtr415 wrote: -1 nobody would be able to beat a base and then it would just be retarded I completely disagree! If we were allowed to defend our base, then it follows that defenders could be warped away with artifacts, crippled with artifacts... etc... It is a huge disadvantage to have your base disabled, look at the production your entire legion loses. All out warfare with a legion should be a carefully thought out decision, not fly by night.
Also, if someone Target Locks your base, the location of their base should be automatically given away, and a return Target lock should be an option for officers of the defending legion.
AND! If a Legion commits acts of violence (Disable, Hack, Raid) more than a set number of times in a week, let's say 5 or 10 times, then the location of their base should be discerned by the victims legion and be available for target-lock!
+1 for the idea to be able to guard Bases

A big -1 for guarding bases. A high level base is damn near impossible to take down already. Given that a high level base has high level legion members, guarding it will make things impossible.

-1 from me as well you dont do much dammage to a base as it is without the enemy members adding there defense to it

This makes sense if your a low level, but at high levels your talking atk and def of 30k just by itself. Add Dysonians with almost 10k sitting on a base and the 360k in hull and things will never die. A whole legion of lowbies will have a brutal fight with bases just as they are now not including anything from high level players.
So sorry but -1. If you wanted to suggest that rather than a exponentail curve for base defense modules you had a more diminishing one that we might be able to do in someway.
If the top end modules stayed as is at 3500 per but bottom end modules started off better say 100 or 150 that might balance the scales a bit. But with just a day's worth of experince under our belt I can't even begin to offer real suggestions.

I'm getting tired of everyone crying to make things equal. I'm sorry, but my legion CANNOT defeat a dysonian base. As it should be. Asking for balance across everything all the time is killing what it means to rank at all. I can rip apart a rank 250, but its a struggle. A 300, using a bunch of arts. A 400, it starts to get ridiculous for me, im just a rank 138. THAT's HOW ITS SUPPOSED TO BE! (Should the Bajorans be strong enough to destroy a Starfleet spacebase guarded by multiple starships? Best analogy I could think of.) The fact that their base will be near impossible to conquer, IS THE WHOLE POINT!!! They worked (or cc'd) that hard to make it that way! My legion's base is toting some of the best tech out there as well, we WANT TO BE STRONG and paid the credits for it! You can't conquer it, TOUGH! Don't suggest DAN should tweak it to make bases softer. From what I've been hearing, its been the opposite. Bases are falling like flies.
And I always thought the planet guarding mechanics were a little weird. IMO, to be more realistic, guards should NOT add to defense, but only ATTACK. You, as a captain, should be able to decide WHO to attack, any particular guard, OR the base. The base should be an eligible target at all times. In reality (or as close to it as possible) my null rays should be able to hit a base's shields, not be blocked each time by some flying spaceship. If you decide to target the ships, once they are disabled, their contributions to attack should be lost. Further, the whole warp ships away mechanic is silly. You simply waste them against anyone who is online. They would be much more effective with a TIMER. Warping a ship away would cause a timer to activate keeping the defender from returning. Even if its just a few seconds. This would be much more realistic as the ship would have to fly back to the position it was defending. Disabling the ship, would also grant a timer (again, this is only from being targeted through a guard position) but this timer would be a bit longer. Punishment for dying. Reality in space war game is hard to achieve, but being able to simply click back into guard position or instantly repair while guarding... Meh... Too easy.
I do think you should be able to guard bases, but only improve attack. (Because a ship cant increase a base's hull or shield, but it can still be shooting at you while youre attacking the base)
Just my thought. Ejja

Best offer yet! I like the idea of defending ships adding only attack. It makes sense.
I still think the other proposals for retaliation against other legions should be a possibility

ok, I'm thinking at least give a counter attack option on their base or the ships attacking it, I think there should be some bonus to having guys online when your base gets hit

-1, thats why there are ability points in place. Its a fixed structure with defensive structures already on there.

Just my thought. Ejja I would have to agree, even with a 60 man legion, even if they were all Colossal Galaxy Destroyers, wouldn't be able to cover an entire Star Base, at most they would be able to cover 50% of it. So I like this idea. Would be very nice to have.
