Since the "Talk" pages are so rarely used on the wiki site, and forum discussion is easier and more orderly, I'd like to propose that Dan either sticky this thread, or even better, please give us a whole section on the forum devoted just to discussions on the wiki. ________________________________________________________________________________
That said, I'm starting to work on some templates. The first set of these will be targetted toward formatting for many of the tables on the site. I had started throwing in style tags directly on tables to prevent wordwrapping for certain columns and make text easier to read by keeping the text a few pixels off of the edges of the cells. This had the added, undesired side-effect of making it hard to find where to change something for a simple stat correction. Templates will be the solution to this. I'll be able to put the style code into the template, and a bonus will be that on each row of a table, you'll be able to tell (by variable name) what each cell is for.
Anyways, I'm going to start on this today, probably with the tables on the bases page.

i'll have to save a table into a temporary page, because the wiki's revision history comparision won't give you a good idea of what the difference will be... but here's an example on my user page, using a test template... User page: http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/User:Lone.LycanTest Template: http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/Template:TestEditing User Page: http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php? ... ction=editEditing Test Template: http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php? ... ction=edit(hopefully it'll let you view the editing code for my user page) The biggest difference will be when editing a table, the styling code won't be there, as opposed to right now ( see: http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php? ... §ion=5 ) ( better example of clutter: http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php? ... §ion=1 ) All of that styling code can be placed into a template, so it doesn't clutter the edit window The next benefit will be that for each row, you assign the text to a variable that's usefully named,... so when someone else edits they won't have to count cells to see what column something is in, then scroll up and count header cells to see what that column is for...

I hope you will go back to adding the center code as well as sort ability of the columns (those that need it). I added those a long time ago.

As requested, here's the before and after on the regular base module tables.... (note: these links go directly to the edit page because that's where the biggest noticable change is found) BEFORE: http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php? ... §ion=3AFTER: http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php? ... §ion=4Comments? OK, while I'm doing this, which columns in which tables on which pages are you referring to that you feel should be sortable? You obviously can't be referring to the base module tables, since we never had those with sortable columns to begin with. In my opinion, the regular base module tables are short enough that the default order you receive the modules should be sufficient. With only 7 modules per type, making any of those 4 tables sortable by alphabetic order on the module name isn't really necessary.

I agree, with only 7 modules, it doesn't need to make them sortable.
